L99 Exhaust
I am sure this is covered on here somewhere, but the search function brings up a menagerie of unrelated, so I'll cut to the chase.
I'm looking to add a little more 'growl' to my exhaust. L99 with the only engine modification really being CAI intake. I do NOT want to get rid of cats or add headers - we have tight emission checks here and I don't want to skirt around things, and also do not want to mess with potential warranty issues. What's a good recommendation for post-cat mod? Flowmaster 40's? Any input would be appreciated. No need to tell me to do more, I'm not going to. Thanks in advance!

I have a Corsa as well, really like it. Quiet at idle, nice deep sound at WOT. AFM is a bit annoying but I have a delete to get rid of it.

I did Cherry Bomb Extreme axle back and a custom X pipe instead of the resonator behind the cats. Nice growl, good tone, but does drone on the hwy. No biggie for me though.
But you wll probably want a Range device to avoid the nice active fuel management noise when it kicks in, or drive in manual mode. I have heard that most axle or cat backs on the L99's really sound bad when AFM kicks in. If you want loud, you will likely also get drone. Flowmasters drone a lot, but they also sound good. Same with Borla. You can always also do a Retro Cat Back with the "J" pipes to eliminate any drone. I had to listen to a lot of sound clips on youtube and on here to really decide what ways I wanted to go. Got a great deal on my Cherry Bombs from another memeber on here so I went that route. |

I had the Flowmaster's, they sound awesome. The drone drove me nuts. I replaced the axle back Flowmaster with the axle back Solo. No more drone. You can still hear a little bit of the AFM.

I just did Solo Axleback on my 2014 SS. It sounds like a BEAST. Absolutely no drone when cruising!!!

I've had them for over 3 years now on my otherwise stock Camaro. Great deep rumble on my L99 and no drone at any rpm.

Range AFM delete module before you decide on your exhaust so you won't have to listen to that AFM kick in.

Yup. Solos w/ J-Pipes are awesome. I love mine! And be sure to get a Range device to eliminate the AFM. You'll enjoy the new exhaust so much more.

Solo Mach XL cat back with J pipes. Sounds great, no drone. I can hear the AFM a little more now, but I heard it with the stock exhaust also.

When I had my L99 I put on Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. Loved the sound, growl.

Get the Borla Atak catback and the range device to get rid of AFM. You will love it. I know you don't want to hear it, but headers and a tune will make it a totally different animal.
