Putting money in mods is like putting money in a slot machine. If you think you are going to get anything back other than some personal enjoyment then you have a problem. For me the ZL1 is a lot more fun than any casino but to each his own.

I promised my wife I wouldn't mod and 4 months after purchase it was headed to Indiana for the LPE 700 pkg. I just made her that same promise when I ordered my z06, we shall see.

That's funny. I promised my wife we would use ours, 3 summers later it has 1847 mi. I have a bad habit of buying things but hardly ever use them.

I chuckle when some of you say who cares about the warranty. Last week the check engine light came on. 1500 miles on the car. Went to Chevy they hooked it up and told me the ECM stopped communicating it needs to be replaced. The tech there who is very good, they have a performance shop and only he works on these cars. He said he has seen this many times with cars that are stored long periods of time that lose power. Screws up the ECM. Long story short I asked what it would cost me if it was not under warranty they said about a $1000.00 parts and labor and diagnostic time......Think before you void.

There is a lot of stuff rolling around in my head right regarding this post..... First off, if the car started and the check engine light came on then the ECM was working well enough to control the ignition. If you pull the ECM out the car won't run period. I'm not saying the tech was wrong but the dealerships many times put in a new part rather than troubleshooting something. I suspect if I got that light on my car and took it to my tuner he would not change the ECM...but even if he did, $1000 is less than a pair of the brake rotors I use... pretty close to what I'm paying for racing brake pads..... If you want to go fast it is going to cost you some money.... that warranty work is nothing compared to what it costs me for race fuel...

Lol. I was thinking the same thing Jess. Where I live I pay almost 25.00 a gallon for VP109 race gas. I can burn 350 a night at the track in fuel alone. I just switched to a squash fuel system that will be in the 4000.00 range installed I'm guessing. If you want more out of these cars you'll have to give up the warranty

I never trust facotry technicians about elecltronics. I have seen them replace so many good ecm's in my life because they don't know proper troubleshooting.

you can get an ecm cheaper than 1k as well.

one thing I have noticed is people who like waranty quote the fake price a dealer gives when it come to part cost and install.

here is your ecm for example
http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-126332.../dp/B00557Z17U

When people come to me for work I can take any dealer quote I have seen to date and cut it by at least 50%.

the zl1 brake kit is a perfect example dealer wants $3600 or something I can thow one together on amazon for $1500-$1800 depending on pad material.

then again I just won't let a dealer touch a car I care about ever want to test how good dealers are just go back over what they have done. I have never had 1 do any supstainal work yet without lose bolt, broken tabs (interior), scratches, loose parts.

I just had work done on my POS commuter dart. horrible work. 4 trips to get it right. I just don't care about that car and don't enjoy working on it ha ha.

For me stock is the way, I will do a intake (would like to hear a little suction) and some lamps both exterior and interior. It has seemed over the past, turbo deisel truck, snowmobile , ATV ...I always chase that factory ride once I modify.
But for you guys that do it, and can smoke the Camaro haters...I'm glad your with us!

I did an intake and an Apex catch can. That's it for me, I'm actually second guessing the catch can. If it was so important why wouldn't GM put it on in the first place. Yeah yeah I've read the threads about them but still wondering.

Catch can is worth it's weight in gold if you look at the oil gunk that goes through the blower.
