TALKED 2 MY DEALER TODAY

Well i talked to my dealer today, walked in and sat down with a guy who didnt really know much about the specifics but conferenced called his ordering manager who pretty much knew everything. One thing was that he said GMAC is only doing people who can put down 10% of a downpayment and have a credit score of 700 or above.

My dealer is getting 6 and one is already taken. He said the other will be too by January 1st because of some of his buddies who is allowing to get the other 5 if no one submits an order by then.

Guys im just being honest with myself im simply not ready to pre-order right now because I dont have the $4,000 to commit to something Im not going to have until Late Spring / Early Summer of next year.

Plus im graduating in June this is kind of a present to myself with the help of my father.

By the way my dealer cringed when i told him i wanted the SS, he asked how old i was i replied 21 and he just gave one of those looks... and said Does Dad pay your insurance too?

lol... Is anyone else holding out until their finanicially ready for the car?? and are you guys too worried there wont be enough in circulation by the time you are ready??? Realistically it could be winter time before my car gets here if im not ready to order until May/June.

Thoughts??

It is always wise to make sure you can be comfortable with your car payments .. as I have progressed career wise, so have my cars (in price at least) ..

I am sure even if you waited, you will still be able to get the car you would want to order ..

I highly doubt this to be true, but I guess in these financial times you never know. I'm safe, but I'm sure there are many here that won't make the plus 700 credit score. But again...I really don't think GM would do this...they want to sell these cars.

If your dealer gives you a look, interrupt and ask what the problem is. I'm 22, and I expect to get some disrespect when I get mine, so I'll be aggressive about getting what I want at a price I can afford. If a dealer wants to insult my experience, intelligence, or product knowledge, I'd be happy to walk out the door. If I can't get an order from this guy, I can always go on a road trip to see CamaroScotty. If your salesperson doesn't show you the respect you deserve, demand a superior or leave. Don't take any crap.

I was an insurance agent for years (thus the name). Anyone under age 25, especially in Michigan will be paying a lot of money to insure this car. If you have any type of moving violation – forget about it! Fact is once actual (not assumed) claims and repair cost vs. frequency begin to apply, next year could be worse for insurance rates on the Camaro.

I’m sure a 2SS would cost anyone under 25 years old (financed + insurance) roughly $575 - $700 a month. Insane!!!

Geico gave me a preliminary quote of about $100 a month more than I pay on my focus right now for an SS. They said, though, that it was based only on the price of the car since they had no information to make an informed decision on. I'm 48, no tickets, etc. Does that sound right to the other old timers out there?

That doesn't sound right at all.
I'm with USAA and only pay $200 every six months for a 2006 Corvette Convertible.

I expect the SS I ordered to be around the same or less.

As far as GMAC 10% down and credit score - - that's bogus!!!
Who said we have to use GMAC???

I had my insurance run a comparable Mustang GT, roughly 2400/yr for me. with a $25000 loan loan, I'm looking at about $650-700/mo for payments and insurance.

At least its not a lease like my last two! And it turns out actually getting an education can land you a decent job...

Holy crap these quotes make me cringe. I've been quoted at roughly $600 every 6 months for an '09 GT and have been told that the SS will be about $100 more every 6 months. With insurance and payments, I'm looking at about $480 a month total.

Sounds like you guys need a new insurance company. No more than $50 a month for me and that's really stretching it. More like $35....

Ok, be fair in the comparison though. What are your coverages and deductibles? And sorry to call you on it but there is no way you are fully insuring a 2006 Corvette for $400 a year.

I'm 41, married, 2 kids (young), house, job, no tickets, no points, etc... all the insurance "plus" points I can possibly have.

My 04 GTO:
300/500k bodily injury coverage
250/500k supp uninsured/underinsured motorist
100k property damage
250 deductables with full glass

372.70 every 6 months

Geico for those who are curious.

Work your butt off, get the cash, walk in there with it in hand, and show the jerky that asked you how old you were and who paid your insurance.

Then, tell him to kiss it and walk out.
