Gear ratios
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and pretty much a newb to cars in general and was wondering if anyone could explain gear ratios to me and what an ideal gear ratio would be. Sorry if this is a dumb question and if you respond thanks for the input.

Basically the lower the number ie 2.73 the taller the gear is. Higher number gear ie 3.73
gives you better performance off the line. It is a shorter gear. Taller gears give you better gas mileage. |

For the Camaro's 4.10 for the manual and 3.73 for the auto seems to be a good fit.
