I'm guessing even though the 2012's dashes are different, this still could possibly be an issue in the future. I put alot of miles on my car (still in warranty). What if your warranty has expired? How much would a new dash cost?

Cracking dash!!!

So today, on our way to Florida to pick up my stepson, my husband (in the passenger seat for the first time in forever!) looks at the dash and tells me that there is a crack in it! I lost my mind, because we are at 36,800 miles on our 2010 car and I am livid. This is the second Chevrolet that I have owned that started falling apart as soon as the warranty is up. I am so looking forward to going to the dealership on Monday, and I know that they are going to love seeing me after the paint problem, seat problem, and service department destroying my panel when they fixed the seat. I love my Camaro, don't get me wrong, but the quality of this product is leaving much to be desired.

I better check Pumpkin for the crack. My bumper tp bumper warranty runs out at the end of the month. Seems to be a common theme. Hard to believe there is not a service bulletin on it.

This thread has kind of blown up since I last looked. Mine is still cracked, and I'm surprised there isn't a bulletin on this yet with all the popularity in here. I hate that it's happening but it's a hard choice. On the one hand I have taken dashes out and I don't want to have it done to my car because it'll never be the same. But I also don't want it to get any worse and then be out of luck completely in 2,000 miles when my warranty is up. I just dropped mine off at the dealer for what appears to be a timing cover leak, which is apparently not unheard of, and has no bulletin either.

I'm wondering if there was actually anything positive that came out of the bailout. I would think that GM would be doing everything possible to keep customers with so much other competition out there now. Backing up their supposedly higher quality cars with high quality customer service seems like the logical place to start. If there's a problem acknowledge it and don't force all of us who put miles on our cars quickly to try to get everything possible resolved before the absurdly short warranty runs out! In the past month and a half I've only been driving my car for like 3.5 weeks trying to get stuff taken care of.

Please let me know if everything was addressed at your dealership. In the meantime, I have documented your concern in a database where many departments of GM can access the information. Keep me posted.

I think you kinda lost your gripe card on this already. They offered to replace your dash yet you refuse to let them fix it. There is no reason your car would be any different after dash replacement, except that the dash won't be cracked anymore. Your asking for a redesign and tsb for an issue that may be fairly small in the grand scheme, just because its a known issue does not mean there will be or should be a tsb. And be fair a week of your car being in the shop was due to a door ding and hail damage. And by your own admission you are very, very picky.

Thank you! When our bumper was repeatedly folding the paint on the quarter panel, we got alot of run around from the person that handled our case at Chevrolet, so I wasn't at all expecting the great customer service I have received with this issue. I was, and I am, pleasantly surprised! Chevrolet has stepped up their game, and it makes me a very happy Camaro owner!
