Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Wow, this thread is going nowhere... Let's actually look at a raw numbers comparison of the 370z and Camaro SS. I'm going to take all the performance figures from one place, I'll use motortrend since they seem to be fairly consistent. I'll get most of the hardware specs from edmunds.com since they include a lot of info but i won't use their test data because it seems like each article on the 370z from them has wildly different numbers.
Note: I will be using specs, data, and pricing for 370z with the sport package. The upgraded brakes, wheels/tires, and addition of an LSD mean this is the most comparable to the Camaro SS. I'm pretty sure Motortrend uses a 1 foot rollout for their 0-60 tests, so add about .3 seconds to these numbers for real world performance. 0-60 370z: 4.7s 0-60 Camaro: 4.6s 1/4 Mile ET/MPH 370z: 13.3/105.7 1/4 Mile ET/MPH Camaro: 13.0/111 Skidpad G 370z: .99g Skidpad G Camaro: .90g Slalom 370z: 69.0 (edmunds.com) Slalom Camaro: 68.6 (edmunds.com) 60-0 370z: 106ft 60-0 Camaro: 105ft (manual transmission) 370z Weight: 3232lbs Camaro Weight: 3860lbs HP/TQ 370z: 332/270 HP/TQ Camaro: 426/420 Camaro 1SS MSRP: $31,040 Similarly equipped 370z: $32,930 (370z with Sport Package) Camaro 2SS MSRP: $34,225 Similarly equipped 370z: $37,460 (370z Touring with Sport Package) |

In the real world a friend of mine has a '06 GTO that is stock except for a diablo sport tune. His car is faster than his friend's 370Z.
Could be a driver issue, but the runs that they have made the GTO wins. |

Oh yeah, i admit that the Camaro is going to be a bigger "Chick" car over the 370Z. But in saying that, i can almost guaranty that the ladies will most likly be driving the V6. I cannot prove that however, and not going to try. The V6 camaro will just be cheaper and most girls don't care about big numbers in there car. Or daddy didn't want to spend nearly $40,000 out the door. :P

any sporty looking car that comes in automatic is going to be driven by a fair share of females; that includes the 370z

I will bet you this most of the 370 z drivers will be girls or your preppy boys. Don't get me wrong the 370z is very nice but most guys would prefer muscle.

I think all the stereotypes in this thread are fricking ridiculous. I think most stereotypes are ridiculous in general. How can you form an opinion of someone based off of what you heard or saw of someone else?
I particularly enjoy getting out of my hick-mobile in a business suit.

Off-topic but:
The one good thing about the STI is it's too ugly for women and only comes in manual. Although it does seem to atract some punk kids which is annoying. |

I formed my opinion by seeing more chicks and preppy boys in the 350/370z's. I work at a bank and I see lots of people driving lots of vehicles. the eclipse, v6 mustang, 350/370z, mazda rx8, saturn sky, solstice are primarily driven by women. Not saying guys don't drive them. I mean if you like a certain car get it myself i don't care what people think and if i wanted one of those cars i would get one. I am just saying the camaro, and challenger you will see primarily driven buy men. Would you agree??? So far all the delivery's on this website have been delivered to men with the exception of 1.

My guess is that your friend has had years to figure out how to drive the GTO to its full potential... give the Z some time.
