EXHAUST

HELLO CAMERO OWNERS: I JUST UPGRADED TO AN SS FROM MY V6 LT1. I PUT MRT V2.0 AXLE BACK EXHAUST ON MY V6 WHICH SOUNDED GOOD BUT HAD TOO MUCH RESONANCE IN THE CABIN AT CRUISING SPEED. MY GIRLFRIEND ACTUALLY RESORTED TO EARPLUGS WHEN WE WERE ON LONG DRIVES AND I REALLY COULD NOT BLAME HER. SO I NEED SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT IS AN UPGRADE FOR MY SS THAT WILL NOT INCREASE THE CABIN NOISE VERY MUCH WHEN JUST CRUISING LIKE ON THE FREEWAY. FLOWMASTERS HAS ONE THAT THEY SAY IS FAIRLY TAME BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE ANY INTERIOR LIKE DB INFO OUT THERE ANYWHERE. HELP PLEASE. THANKS, BILL ELLIOTT

First thing, when you are typing online in ALL CAPS, it means you are yelling. Secondly, it is annoying to read in all caps.

I have Borla Atak axle back, at cruise cabin noise is really good. Never had someone say it's to loud in the cabin even my 55 year old mother

Having recently installed LT headers, high-flow cats and a cam, my car suddenly had that headache-inducing resonance at around 1,800-2,000 rpm which of course is exactly where it sits at freeway speeds in 6th gear. A couple weeks ago I replaced the Zoomer's exhaust I had with Magnaflow axle-backs and wow what a difference. It almost totally eliminated the drone. You can actually have a conversation in the car at freeway speeds now. At exactly 1,800 rpm there's still a slight touch of drone if I'm accelerating in 6th; if I'm just holding a steady speed it's not there. But the overall noise level has to have been reduced by about 30%. The car sounds great now; the exhaust tone is beautiful and sounds fantastic when you really get on the throttle.

Here's a link to my project thread where you can hear a couple of videos of it on the dyno with the old exhaust to get an idea how it sounded before the Magnaflows.

I haven't recorded it with the Magnaflows yet but believe me; they made a dramatic improvement!

It's not about typing fast, it's about driving fast. Stop YELLING at us. Maybe your girlfriend resorted to earplugs because you kept yelling at her. lmfaho
