First Post newbe question
Just purchased this 2010 RS 6 speed and love it! I'm about to buy the Certified additional warranty for and addition 3 years ($1,500) bumper to bumper.
Is it worth it and are there inherent problems with the car or the V6? Thanks! Rick |

Don't get the extended warranty! It is a waste of money IMHO

Are you going to mod the car? If so you have to know you'll void parts of your warranty.
That being stated, it seems to me on a car of that age, not specifically Camaros or V6's but just cars I've dealt with in the past, what does go wrong is radio and ac and things like that, and it would be really nice to have that peace of mind with your extended warranty. To me, $1500 doesn't sound all that bad for not having to worry about anything for another 3 years.

34,900 Actually it came with a one-year certified warranty , This would add an additional 3 years after that.
Thanks for responding.... |

3 years with an additional 36k miles? that would put it close to 71k. Since you dont know the history and if you are planing on putting at least 12k miles a year I would get it. Its my understanding and someone here can confirm this but you should be able to get a copy of the service history at the service dept by the VIN. You asked about inherent problems. That would tell you all that was done under warranty. If items done were major I would consider getting it. just my opinion

If it's good for 3 years/36K after the certified warranty runs out, I'd get it. That's a lot of peace of mind for $1,500.
Also, you don't have an "RS". It's a common mistake to think V6s are RSs and V8s are SS - not so. RS indicates the exterior trim package of 20" custom wheels, body-colored roof ditches, halo headlights. V8s (SSs) can have the same RS trim package as the V6s. I'm not really clear on the particular V6 Camaro models, but it looks like you may have a 2LT with RS trim. Someone here can clarify. Beautiful car though. Congrats and welcome to C5!

Rick, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

It does have 20 in h wheels and halo headlites.. Thanks everyone for the welcome that I have received. My other cars are a 66 GTO which I bought in 1969 as a junior in high school. And a 1982 Porsche 928. The Camaro fits right in. |

Your right. From my understanding he was just clarifying that the OPs Camaro is not simply an RS but a 2LT/RS. But congrats OP as for the extended warranty I would say it might be worth it for the peace of mind but the biggest problem with the 10 V6 is the timing chains expanding. If you look in the V6 LLT section you will find much more info on this

Extended warranty FTW if you think something is going to break. As you probably know, electronic and AC repairs can get expensive. I had an issue with my radio not recognizing the USB the first couple of weeks, but after that it worked itself out - who know how. No problem now!
