Switching batteries

Is there anything I should know before disconnecting the battery to install an Optima? Will the radio lock up or anything? I did a search and couldn't find much on this.

You will need to reset your windows, no big deal. I just followed the instuctions on the DIC, it's also in the owners manual.

actually nothing is wrong with the OE battery... espically being that they are built to vent to the outside of the vehicle which you would not be able to do with any aftermarket without building a sealed compartment to enclose the Battery.

I just need a more powerful than stock as I plan to add a sub and amp to the factory ba system. By lock up i was referring to the anti theft that disables the radio then you need a code tounlock it. The reason I chose optima is they are zero maintenance sealed batteries. They don't require ventilation. If there is a better option I'm open to suggestions

Speagle,

How much power are you planning on running? you may not need to upgrade, and if you do look into some better options... though Optimas are good they do not hhold up to the abuse that higher power amps of today will put on them. Oddessy ( I have them badged as Stinger) make some great batteries that will hold up perform much better.

I'm just going with a 400.1 and a 10" comp vr so the demands on the battery will not be severe by any means. Maybe it's just that my stock battery is weaker than it should be but it seems that the car is somewhat slow to turn over and the hazards would kill it in less than an hour. I have had an optima red in most of my past vehicles so I admit that it has become somewhat of a tradition.

check into the oddessy or Stinger batteries... in stinger the yellow topped SPV44 is a good replacement.
