2012 ZL1 wrecked with 11 miles on the odometer at local dealership(story inside)...
Ok. So here goes. I posted this but deleted my thread due to me possibly buying the vehicle(planned to make a deal even though the car was wrecked, figured i'd use that to my advantage). Now that I've learned that the dealership is STILL going to charge a premium for the vehicle AFTER its been in a wreck its just damn insane. So beware for those interested...
Now the story. I happen to stumble upon a ZL1 at a local dealer. I hadn't seen one in person yet, so I immediately stop get out the car and wanted to take a look at it. First thing I noticed was the car was up on 4 bricks, literally. Then I took a closer look and noticed the front splitter was damaged, all 4 rims/tires were damaged and the rockers were damaged. The suspension also looks to be damaged, to what extend I have no clue other then the fact that all 4 wheels are going in different directions. I started talking to one of the gentleman who works there and they start telling me what happened. The owner put a deposit down on the vehicle(keep that in mind). The car was unloaded from the truck by 2 guys and the car never came back that night. When it came back, it came back with 11 miles on the odometer and the damage that I described. Needless to say the previous owner no longer wants it. I have been able to take a few pics here and there for those interested. You literally have to see the car in person, the pics do not do it any justice. |

Idiot dealers, that's why you should be there when your car shows up.

"SOME" good dealers have a bad apple or two from time to time. I wonder how they cover the cost of that repair? Insurance? Self Pay? Curious how that would work... I'm sure it's not the first time.

I'd imagine the trucking company would have to cover the costs for repair since it was their employees. I can't believe they're selling it for the same amount though.

I truly believe this is the main reason chevy is pushing the 1500 mile break-in so hard.

I've seen stuff like this before and the real bad part is after it's fixed depending on what state you are in they do not have to disclose the previous damage and they will still sell it "as new".
The dealers will always argue on their behalf that it shouldn't matter because the damage has been fixed to factory standards by their "experts" and you will still get the full warranty. I doubt Carfax would catch it either, if insurance is involved it would most likely be business insurance, not auto and the title isn't issued until some poor soul buys it.

If they fix it as "lot damage" no,it won't be turned into their insurance company, and won't show up on CarFax.
