I see what you're saying.
What confuses me is.....the Dodge Challenger is 40,095 MSRP and the
Pontiac G8 is 29,995 MSRP. (who knows what the G8 GXP will cost)
So, will Chevy price the V8 Camaro closer to the Challenger or closer to the G8??

All other model prices will fall in line based on this.

By the way.... this thread has been

I'm going to try to say this nicely, and all though I haven't been here for a considerably long time I would like to tell/ask all you new members with below like 10 posts to get some respect. We don't need a "rice" burner thread (notice the play on words). GET OVER IT! It is so disrespectful and unappealing from people that actually consider themselves AUTOMOTIVE enthusiasts. It's getting extremely old, not everyone can afford a v8. Also if GM was smart they would try to get a part of the import crowd, you know, anything to up sales. And last but deffinitely not least. IF you plan on buying the v8, please take a nice dose of shut up lol, your not buying it so it doesn't effect you

Thats a good point. buy the I4, save gas money, then drop in a crate LS7.

I4 base engine.

Look at history - the I4 was used as the base engine in the camaro after the new CAFE standards in the 70's because GM couldn't bring a v6 to high enough fuel economy (and possibly more importantly, emissions) - it was done temporarily, and, if you didn't notice, by the time the third gen's ended there was no more I4. I highly doubt this will be a permanent move. If it's done, it will only be for a few years, I'm sure.

As for pricing, it really concerns me as well. Looking at the statistics, I think the major factors for the low sales that caused Camaro's cancellation in the first place were A) Visual Appeal, B) The fact that the mustang was out first, so it had a large fanbase before the camaro was even produced (there are a lot of people who like mustangs just because their parents do, or their grandparents had one, etc.), and C) Camaros have always been a little bit pricier than mustangs. I think they've fixed problem A, problem B is just something they'll get used to, and sell less camaros than ford sells stangs, but problem C I think was a lot more important than it seems GM realizes. The pony car market has been a cheap, entry level performance car market since the mustang came out. The buyers in that market are usually looking for price, and I'm here to say that even just 2000 dollars tacked onto a 20000 bill goes a long way after interest, especially when you're young and don't have a good credit score. If I buy one of the new camaros (if I have the money to do it - heh!) I'll probably get a v6 for that very reason - I'm 19, a freshman in college, and I would have serious problems affording the car payment on a v8. And when 2000 dollars comes to almost 50 dollars a month - it really does make a difference. Its one of the reasons I'm considering just taking out a bank loan to finance an LS1 swap into my 86.

2.0 turbo??? are you kidding me. thats is rediculous. that is definately NOT what the camaro nor any MUSCLE car stands for. i cant believe they would even consider it. i dont care how bad gas prices are. you would never see the corvette do that or even a v6(now).

and whats up with the 6.0?? i thought they cleared that up and said they meant to say 6.2???? im confused?!?!?!?!

+1 kyle

i for one i'm going to get a V8, but i drive a four banger right now. hell, i work 40 miles one way from my house. i need good fuel economy. so the V8 will be the weekend car. if the four banger camaro is good on gas i might just get one for my daily driver. so that would be two camaro sales, which is double the amount i was thinking of buying.

Not all of us can afford the top of the line stuff. You have to remember that the camaro was a car that everyone can afford to buy no matter if it had a t4.v6 .or v8

A four cylinder? Even with D.I. and a turbo, it's blasphemy in a Camaro! Premium price over the Mustang? Why bother Bob, the Mustang will out sell the Camaro! The new Camaro will suffer the same fate it did in 2002.

Being realistic isn't an easy principle for some people to grasp.
