I'm the "participant" that posed this question to Mr. Fritz, and yes, I'm hoping that we can begin ordering these last quarter 2010, and take delivery in March/April 2011. This seems like such a long time, but hopefully these will not be pushed back further. I don't think I can hold out any longer....

I just don't understand why the engineering to produce a relatively similar car, only with a convert top should take so long to put into production??

I guess I'll just set back and drool at other forum members coups for now..BUT "THE CONVERT CROWD DAY IS COMING!!"

they already have a performance sedan. or saloon as top gear says. CTS-V. Leave the camaro out of it! Just because Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche, Maserati, and maybe ferrari are doing it DOESN'T MEAN ITS OK TO DO IT TO A CAMARO!

Well at least now I have something alittle more concrete, will be able to pay cash by then and I have been making my list of upgrades from all of the other cool members suggestions, thanks guys, keep them coming!!

15:04 Christopher Barger: Here's the one we were trying to answer before but couldn't publish: I have been trying to buy a new 2010 Camaro. Nice car. Unfortunately a lot of dealers are price gouging and playing games. I did find a good dealership but delivery has taken many months after I placed an order and I have yet to see my car. This has made for a terrible customer experience. Are you aware of these problems and what can be done to improve things? Thank you for listening.

The only thing worse than a 4-door camaro would be an el camaro mini-pickup.

It isn't really the engineering that is making the vert take so long. Originally it was most likely intended to come out a year after the coupe, just like with the concepts. A few things happened between when they had the idea and now. Gas prices shot up last year and Chrysler ditched plans for a Challenger convertible, leading GM to question the market potential for a Camaro vert. GM went bankrupt but before they did they reduced R&D and shelved a bunch of projects, and since a Camaro vert's sales potential was being questioned it got put on the back burner. Lastly they had a supplier problem for the roof mechanism. So with all that, its taking an extra year on top of the original plan.
