I honestly have no idea how they got 14.3 out of a stock v6 Camaro..

i haven't seen the video, so i'm not sure if that's a corrected time or not, but I ran a 14.2 corrected time in my stock LS M6

I would bet money they were manuals. That is usually what they test, and everyone talks about how the manual mustang is so much better than the automatic (at least when the auto has the regular gearing).

Alright, kids--drove a 2011 Mustang with V6, 6-speed stick and 3.31 gears....

Wow. Screamer! Effortlessly got rubber in 3rd gear. I mean it, easy shift at 4 grand and she barks...nice. My 2LT manual doesn't do that!

I did think the shifter throws were a tad shorter/better in the Mustang, but the 1-2 shift was notchier than the rest, just like the V6 Camaros. I do prefer my taller Camaro shifter than the little nub in the 'stang. It feels better in your hand.

This was not the V6 premium car, so it had 17" wheels and no leather, etc. I wasn't wild about the dash and gauge layout, and while the exhaust note in the Mustang sounds better than the Camaro at idle, once rev'd it sounds very similar to a stock Camaro. It really loses to the Camaro in the looks department, but....

Performance-wise you gotta give the props to Ford. It was a fun car to drive! Let the hatin' commence....

No hatin from me at the moment...they are quick cars. But I wonder if the car could still turn em that easily hitting 3rd with a set of 20 inch P-zeros like the Camaro RS has. I'm betting it would be tougher forsure.

On the subject...anyone know a good way to tell a 2011 mustang V6 from a 2010? I know how to tell on the GT (the 5.0 badge on the side) but a V6 I'm not sure unless the car had the new premium wheel package.

Lostnight---I calculated the Density altitude for you.

Based on a time of 7:55pm (only other one was 8:55pm and that is further off)

Density Altitude: 1667 feet. Using your numbers, your corrected time comes in at 14.298 @ 99.793 MPH

I really think on night with even better conditons, some break in on the engine and trying out launch techniques, that you could get a an easy 14.0@ 101 or maybe a 13.9!

very nice. The 2011 Mustang has me tempted--but where are the paddle shifters?? I think I would switch over to Ford. I have some issues with the Camaro.

I barked the tires in 3rd with my LS since the day I got it. Can do it every time no problem.

Must be what KM said, that your LT's 20" RS tires are the reason why you can't.

Maybe traction control on as well? I know I have never chirped my tires in my 2LT/RS. Then again I am trying to be a more sedate driver! It isnt working so far...

You know thats a really cheap price on that mustang as well. Lot of oomph for the money. And no, I am not going to the dark side! I am a Chevy/Dodge/Pontiac guy haha

I wondered as well about the wheel size factor. I've run 18s but with Blizzaks, so obviously I don't try to spin them. That said, the car still hasn't barked them when shifting to 3rd at 4 grand-ish even with 18's. If I ran it up to 6+, I'm sure it can be done as you say with the smaller wheels.

The weight factor can't be ignored either. Drive the Mustang and you will feel the difference.

My Camaro LS was over $100 less, only $23,500.

Thanks for doing that, there is potential there. I see there is also a lot of potential with the V6 Camaros. When I was at the track about 6 weeks ago, I saw one there running. A few days ago I saw a least two waiting in line to run, and at least one SS. Maybe one of these nights I'll get lined up next to one, that could be fun. It's kind of a crapshoot on what lines up next to you though.

I velcroed my iPod to my dashboard this morning to keep it nice and stable, wish I thought of that sooner, works much better than the windshield mount. I did a couple more 0-60 runs, got it down to a 5.46.
