Weird item in wife's tire

My wife got a flat tire and found this in it. What is it? She has a 2009 Malibu. I know I've seen this part somewhere before on the suspension

It ALMOST looks like the top of a McPherson strut or shock, but the threaded section is too long. HOW did she get THAT in her tire? As big as it is, you'd have thought she would have just rolled over it.

I have no idea. I thought it looked like the top of a strut as well. I'm still at work but when I get off work I'm to look at it. She did say her car has been riding weird for a few weeks now. I'm thinking something broke off of her car and somehow went into the tire. Lucklily nothing happened other than a flat tire because she was on the highway and got a low tire pressure chime and she immediately pulled into the closest gas station.

I've been looking online for pictures, but with it being a Malibu not many suspension pictures unlike our cars.

I also had her measure it. It's about 3 3/4"

It kind of looks like the bolt that holds the cats on the camaro. When I installed the HFCs you have to remove them to get them out of the car.

that looks like it's from the alternator. check her alternator for a missing stud/bolt.

It's a sign... she needs a Chevy Bolt to drive.

+1 on the exhaust manifold to the first exhaust pipe junction bolt. Looks like its off a truck. Probably that slow(?) leak causing the weird ride!

How big is the hole in the tire?

I never seen the tire myself. She took it to a repair shop and they told her it was too big to patch. But, yea I don't think the bolt came from her car. probably someone in front of her.

also looks like a snapped eccentric bolt from the rear lower control arms or front radius arms.
it would be riding really weird without one of those.

The top of the piston from another cars shock? Kinda looks like it has the flats on the end that you hold with a wrench while you tighten the nut.

Looks like a stud with the nut still attached. It also looks like it may of been rolling around on the road for quite a while before your wife's tire picked it up judging by the worn off lower threads.
