Remember this quote:

“The Camaro ZL1 delivers supercar performance and technology in the sports-car segment,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “For sheer power, the ZL1 delivers more horsepower than a Ferrari 458, more torque than an Aston Martin DB9 V12, and a better power-to-weight ratio than a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.

So, comparing the ZL1 to some very expensive cars - not to its 'competitor'.

Well at least we know it won't be over $75,000!
The problem in trying to complete the analogy of comparing the ZL1 to those supercars is that the ZL1 is a Camaro. The Camaro is in the Pony Car segment, along with the Mustang. People who purchase Ferraris, Aston Martins, and Porsches, do have a lot of money, but they do not buy Camaros or Mustangs. It doesn't matter if the ZL1 competes with or outperforms supercars. The ZL1 needs to be priced appropriately for its market segment or it will not sell, regardless of its performance. Gallo could produce the best wine in the world, but if its priced out of its market segment, it won't sell, as people who purchase high end wines will still purchase Petrus, Mouton, DRC, etc, and not Gallo.

I agree, I'm just making observations. Porsche, Audi, BMW, etc. - all of those guys still won't buy it because of what it is and I understand that. I'd much rather pay $50k than $55k or $60k....

They won't. Come on people, settle down and relax.

GM is not going to price the ZL1 within a few thousand of the starting price of a CTS-V ($63k), a car sharing many of the same performance features but with a much better interior (with an expensive Nav system standard), longer warranty, and the Cadillac nameplate.

With that said, let's use a little common sense to come up with an educated guess. It's main competitor, the GT500 with the performance pack, starts at $53,600. That doesn't include the optional Nav system, glass roof, upgraded stereo, and optional recaros which could bump up the price around an additional $7k. So, a maxed out GT500 coupe could come in a little over the $60k mark.

The ZL1, however, won't offer many of these options that can really make the price jump like the GT500 (such as a $2.3k nav system, $1.3k stereo, $2k glass roof). Instead, it looks like GM will pack in all the performance goodies standard, and offer a few small upgrades such as the suede wheel/shifter, polished wheels, stripe, etc. I think one of the only "pricey options" for this car will be the auto transmission (and the additional GG tax that comes with it).

I'm expecting the base, manual transmission ZL1 to come in at a price close to the $53,600 of the GT500 configuration previously mentioned. My guess is it very well may be a thousand or two above that price (or they may surprise us and go a little lower), but it won't stray very far IMO.

Anyone here on the Connell Cheverolet list out of Costa Mesa CA? Based on volume I expect they will get a large allocation. They cuurently have 5 new ZR1's and 1 new Z06 in stock. I put a deposit down over a month ago with the for a ZL1 and my position was finally confirmed today (a month later) that I am 9th on the list with a deposit. Took them a month to confirm my posistion? Sounds shady if you ask me. How are people still talking Chevy dealers and getting a #1 position this far along in the game, havent these dealerships had anyone inquire about the ZL1 and getting on a list up to now? I am so frustrated I wanna cry

Call around. Everyone goes to the big dealerships and they seem to be the most likely to push people around. One of the ones I'm 1st on is in a very small town but they sell a lot of volume.

Really... are you privy to information that no one else is?

You know what I hate most about speculation... everyone has their own ideas and anyone who isn't in agreement is full of shit.

I gave my OPINION on what I think the packages will be. No one knows... and frankly I dont care what Scott (I assume that's the employee youre talking about said) no one ever stated what the options would be... Just that there will be few. CORRECT.... Color, trans, sunroof or stripe. Those are options, the others are trim levels but I dont know anymore than you. I could be totally wrong but quit arguing with my opinion. If I wrong, I'll be the first to admit it.

Team, if you know for certain you are going to be waiting on a 2013 ZL1 convertible or coupe let us know so we can remove you and move other members up on this 2012 ordering list.
Also if you plan on ordering on the 29th let us know so we can add you.
