They favored performance over fuel economy for that one, apparently.
The gear spread is extremely aggressive. |

I've been driving 6-speed sticks every day for the past 5 years now... they really could lighten up on the top gears to give it a little more cruise on the highway. For my driving style anyway. Its fun to mash it sometimes, but you usually don't.

I think the v6 is the perfect marriage of performance/fuel efficiency.

When I get mine, I'll probably replace some gears. I don't need 6 close-ratio gears...3 close ratios and then 3 long ratios with 6th being 1000rpm@60mph ought to do the job for me. Wish me luck making that one happen.

Yeah... i won't be doing that, but it is a good idea. I wish my 4th and 5th were a little taller and 6th was way out there. I'm doing like 4000 rpm just cruising down the highway. My car might not have low end but it doesn't need to be THAT high cruising at 80

9000 RPM is 150 Revolutions per Second. Thats hella fast, imagine that image above, spinning at 150 spins per second, and imagine it not filthy and not missing the drive cog etc

I think real world numbers will be better than 25 highway. Keep your foot out of it and you should see better city numbers too. 'Course I may lean towards changing the gears eventually too. Right now (mathematically) the car should redline at 105 in third. 4th, 5th, and 6th can certainly be lengthened a tad bit, especially once you throw an exhaust on the thing.

The price of fuel is going to be unstable from now on and I suspect it will only trend higher. It is totally possible to get both performance and efficiency in a vehicle and you might as well go for it. It's only money but it's going tol take more and more of it at time goes on. Cheap fuel has gone the way of the dodo. |

I guess I am the only one that thinks the fuel economy for even the v6 is completely pathetic? I got 26 city with mildly aggressive driving in my 97 v6 (stick), and most people I talk to with manual Z28s or SSs say they get at LEAST 20 city.
