I would love to see GM start production earlier, but I don't think that it is possible. They are probably still lining-up suppliers and establishing tooling. I read somewhere that the company that was going to make the seats went out of business, causing GM to source a new primary supplier.

We were allocated only four and I was the only one to leave a deposit and place an order.

Of course they can/will start production early. Listen CLOSELY to the podcast on CZ28.

These dates, including start of production, appear to be worst case scenario, which is what I would have expected. I would guess that by Feb 16th, not only will production have started, but that will be the day the first few hundred, if not first couple thousand, are loaded on semis and pulling out of the Oshawa plant on their way to delivery at a dealer near you... my opinion only.

I dont want them to rush to push up production. Id ratehr them stay on schedule, take their time, and do it right the first time. And as you can see from my sig, I'm hurting for a car!

We are going to get a lot more after the weekend when people have a chance to get into their dealers. Mine is going in on Monday...and just wait till you hear who I'm ordering it from...

And, pretty cool that GM opened the doors, huh? I'd bet...out of all the orders placed, 80% have probably been SS's. Kind of nice for GM to do this for us enthusiasts.....who else knows about the ordering but us enthusiasts!?!?!

Nice! Now GM only need to sell 97,056 (100,000-2,944) units to hit their projected amount. The thing that I am most excited about, and call me crazy if this is nuts, is the potential sales this will take away from the Mustang.

I wonder what kind of effect this will have for the rest of the years production. I would imagine that 80% will be V6's after they get our cars done.

To quote page 12 in the Workbook:

"SS MODEL FOCUS

Core Camaro Enthusiasts will be the target for the
SS model. These customers are very loyal to Camaro,
love the Chevy brand and the heritage associated with
Camaro. They will seek out Camaro. "

They sure as heck got that one right.....

All they need to do is have each dealer sell 1 Camaro a week to get 200,000 sales. What do you think? Do-able?

I honestly had told TAG just yesterday that I thought they had over 2000 orders in already, and looky here... I was right

I'm happy to see the success of this car... and can only imagine if they would have had a blue offering on the SS how many more they would have gotten.

No, a lot of people on this site predicted that around 1000 Camaros had been ordered. We were off by about 2000.
