This is the route I went. Debated on adding a S/C to my SS, but decided that the style of the ZL1 along with the power and all the other goodies added to it (MRC, dual-mode exhaust, etc) was ultimately going to make me happier than just more power (and it comes with the piece of mind warranty).

Just get a supercharger from SLP & pick a 3/36K($350) or 5/100K($800) warranty....That's what I did

everyone thinks breaking the warranty is about the money. it is not always about the money. it's about the convenience of driving in your car to the dealership and having them fix something without questions. it's about not having to postpone that new ipad purchase because a flabbergaster valve in your camaro broke. there is a peace of mind that a warranty brings that transcends money itself.

I just dropped the money on a SC. The only reason why I didnt trade it in and get a ZL1 is because I would have taken an A$$ kicking on the trade in. The SS is already 3/4 paid off...

Besides, I couldn't justify driving the ZL1. It's going to be a collectors item. Now I have a SS thats just as fast and I can have some fun with it!

If you can afford the repairs WHEN things go bad, go for it. Powertrain repairs are not cheap!

BUT...If you are thinking "maybe I can afford it", guess what? Here is what is going to happen. You mod, you are happy to the moon, the car feels stronger and faster, it sounds awesome, etc. etc. Then, one day, you get used to those mods and you wanna mod some more to get that feeling again...then a powertrain part needs fixing...the strange thing is, when something breaks, it seems contagious on the car, something else follows. Then, the "maybe I can afford it" idea you had will turn into "I wish I kept my warranty."

I have relationships with mod friendly dealers, but my cars get modded immediately. Some get started before they leave the dealership.

I had to use my warranty too. It was nice having the free Caddy for a week while the Camaro was being fixed.

I put a cam in my last car when it had 12k miles. 300 miles later it spun a rod bearing I went though many other mod levels until I traded it in on the Camaro.

I swore the Camaro wouldn't be modded to the point of losing the warranty. After 30k miles, the temptation to cross the point of no return is becoming more difficult. My car is a daily driver, which is what really is holding me back right now.
