I will take another stab at it

Camaro 2SS 1LE is about 41k with Recaros

Z07 brake was 8k option (i believe)
LS7 is about 4k (retail) over the LS3 and the dry sump idk say 2k for that

I think the wheels might be a wash
Exhaust 1k

R&D i would think 3-5k per unit at cost and im sure they have a formula to make some off of that. So i will just say 7k

That ball parks around 63k.

Suspension maybe 1k more over the 1LE setup

I will go with 64k.

It still has to be a value car imo and i think GM really would like to go after other performance car buyers and not just the Camaro faithful here. The guys who buy 911s and actually race them.

I also think that if the price hits a fully loaded C7 target they might lose buyers to the Corvette

I also think that GM could price this thing at 60k and i also think they could shoot for the moon at 70k.

The closer to 60 it gets the more likely i might hold out for one.
3-4k units - one will be available imo

If we're building cars, here's a post I think may be helpful....It's from a guy who knows a thing or two about cars...

By my calculations the lowest possible price for a Z/28 would be $75,000, but the Z/28 includes thinner glass and other unique to the Z/28 items. The Z06 borrows from the ZL1 with no new technology or components. Can you imagine what the brake calibration cost to develop and validate on the Z/28?$?$?$?$

I would love to be wrong, but I don't see the Z/28 at less than $80K
This was also before the announcement the production of the Z/28 would be limited to 3-4K cars over two years...

Well...even @ a build of 3-4000, that's more production than the Z06-Z07 bore...so the per unit costs would be less. And Corvette margins shouldn't be expected of a Camaro...

NAIAS will reveal the C7 Z06, so suddenly the glass ceiling has been reinstalled...

I don't think the z's were limited though. They just didn't sell all that's well over the last few years they were offered. The z06's kind of faded out while the z/28 seems to be all the new rave. Because of the hype I think they will be asking high

And why did the Z06 in ALL forms sell is low-ish numbers, the last few years?

1) C7 on the horizon...except Z06 sales stated tumbling when the ZR1 arrived. So...

2) Sales beyond $70-75Gs (excuse this!) for a GM car are rarified...whether Limited Edition, or otherwise...THAT'S your true glass ceiling.

Keep in mind, folks, there WILL be a Gen-6 Z/28. This Gen-5 masterpiece is NOT one of those hokey Brand F 2-year-only get-em-while-they're-hot! sleds.

This car will reappear, better than this one (believe it!), at a price relevant to the Gen-5 AND relative to others within the Division, both in deed AND price...

Better yet, what will Hendrick pay for the first one in Scottsdale this year?

What are these others you speak of? I just don't see in track specific cars being released....

It seems that gm isn't targeting camaro fans or sports car fans as much as they are targeting track guys. Folks that extensively track there car understand its expensive.

People think golf or horseback riding is an expensive hobby. Racing cars can be much more expensive and people that do it get it.

I like to see a rendering of the gen 6 but would love to see the gen 6 z!

Lots of good points but I didn't see a guess on the price

Depends on how much of a tax write-off he needs

Gosh, I forgot this was the FIRST "Guess My Price" thread, here...

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=329859&page=4

...and you had a comment, 7 posts down...

The "track-ready" aspects of this car MEANS it's ready for HPDE events, NOT that it's ready to sit on the Pole @ Rolex 24 or Sebring...and unless they price the thing @ COPO-like numbers, I don't see a lot of Ferrari-Lambo owners sullying themselves to mingle with the masses @ Your Town Chevrolet...

As to "others within the Division", there IS a C7 Z06 reveal @ NAIAS...and, believe me, THAT car will show tail to a Gen-5 Z/28.

As for auto racing being expen$ive, "If you wanna make a SMALL fortune racing, start with a LARGE fortune first..."

Stig, I'll be here to take my lumps, IF I need to. I can think of a few who may leave for vacation if the price is more "sensible" than they think/wish/dream...

Guys as we have said many times the final price point will be more than the ZL1...and cost is relative, it's not what it's worth to you and me, it's what GM thinks they can sell it for. And then to be a Debbie Downer again, I say it's just a Camaro and though I feel my passion for them may be unrivaled, I WON'T PAY 70k+ for a CAMARO. It's really sad and I'm sure they would love to sell more Z/28's than they can produce, the fact still remains that it will be a gas guzzler and GM doesn't want to have the liability due to CAFE THAT 10-15,000 of these monsters hit the streets!! Plain and simple, so they sell few with a high margin , Lord knows there will be plenty of demand @$80K, just not from me.
