Maybe it's because it's only 40 degrees F outside and the tires are not warm enough. I'm sure that if I put it in mode 5 race, it will spin the tires even in 3rd, - I believe it did that even on mode 2 on rough pavement. It is a beast! It bites back too! You need to be very careful with that pedal....
It's the temps for sure. Once you get warmer weather and get heat in the tires and the pavement you'll will see a big difference.

+1. A little heat will go along ways with those tires.

I've still got "permagrin" plastered across my face
as I type this - OMG what a car!!!

I'm not very savy when it comes to describing performance
and handling, but here's what I can tell you. When I came
off the entrance ramp and hit 3 digits of speed faster than
I could imagine and felt like there was soooo much more......
well, that's when "ultragrin" set in. There was very little
sense that I was driving that fast except for the very very
slow cars that were also on the freeway Those great big
fat sticky tires sure make it feel nice and stable. I'm sure
there's lots of other engineering marvels that made it feel
that way. I'll also say I think I'm going to be very happy
that I bought the Auto Trans. The manual trans may have
gotten me into alot of trouble

This car is spectacular!! Given the opportunity to drive one,
do so, you certainly won't be disappointed. Now I've got to
find the time for my co-workers and Camaro club members
to take her for a spin --- supervised of course

Thanks for the feedback! I would be scared to let anyone test drive it. You now know it's a beast. I would set up some rules if I were you: don't push the pedal more than 1" at a time, when you're in 1st and 2nd gear and don't floor it in 3rd if you're not on perfect pavement with warm tires, don't set ip up higher than Mode 2 (standard setting). Also, make sure you have life insurance!

Now I need to find a way to by-pass my friends which will want to drive mine....

That doesn't sound too bad considering you've been pedal to the floor the whole time!

My new rule is to only accelerate harder in third gear, and even then, not in corners as it will get away from under you.

I also discovered the sound system this morning. It is awesome: crisp, powerful sound, easy to navigate menus. Best of all -in this case, it covers the exhaust so that my daughter doesn't say the car is too loud. You got to learn how to trick them...

In any case, when I'm alone I prefer to listen to the awesome exhaust sound.
Man, what's the temp there? Must be cold if the tires are spinning in 3rd.

BTW, those 'slow' cars were probably doing 60-70mph, but they looked like they were standing still.
I wish I had taken my camera out and snapped a shot of her face.
That grin went from ear to ear and beyond.

All she could do was to keep yelling at everybody to 'GET OUT OF MY WAY'
