Swift Motorsports Hidden Manual License Plate Bracket Installation

Ok I saw that H3LLJUMPER just posted a thread of the motorized version of Swift Motorsports front lisence plate bracket yesterday (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30953), but I thought I would go ahead and start another thread of my installation of the manual version with some pictures today. I installed the manual bracket a little farther to the passengers side of the car than H3LLJUMPER. Just a matter of personal preference. I think it is good to have a couple of examples to look at if you are considering installing either version on your new Camaro.

Where do you tap in for the power?

Does the remote work from inside?

Does the remote indicate out or away?

This is the manual version. You just pull it out like pulling out a drawer and then a spring flips it up into position.

Given the angle of the bumper this frame does not install horizontal (like on a Mustang) but would also be on an angle - I know as we tried to install it. Perhaps the SS fascia is flatter than the 1LT/2LT...

The angle will make the license plate frame rub the bumper so did you put foam or something on it or did you move it forward to clear the bumper when its in up for viewing the plate?

Does it bolt on? Or clip on somehow? How does it fasten?

I am DEFINITELY going to get this. SOme people say they don't like how it sticks out past the bumper, but I say it looks better sticking out of the bumper than always being displayed.

I am not sure if the SS ffascia is flatter than the 1LT/2LT or not, but I did not have any problems getting it in a location that I liked.

The bracket comes with two rubber advesive pads which you attach to the back of the bracket where it contacts the front bumper. Because the bracket is spring loaded it would be pretty much imposible to move it forward far enough so that it does not make contact with the front bumper.

The bracket attaches to the facia with three machine screws and three rubber expansion washers. You will need to jack up the front of the car so that you can get a drill with a 5/16 drill bit under the bottom of the facia. Be sure to start with a smaller drill bit for a pilot and then drill out the 5/16" diameter holes. You put the rubber expansion washers in the three 5/16" diameter holes and simply tighten down the three screws. the expansion washers will grip the bottom of the facia when you tighten down the screws.

I agree that seing a small portion of the bracket when the lisence plate is stowed is much better than having it permenantly attached!

Thanks - the angle on the 2LT is too steep which makes installing the frame pitch at an angle and look awkard as it doesn't sit right IMO. I've been trying to get a fabricator to make a bracket - see pdf attached. Glad you got yours to work...
