You dont really need a video as it is pretty easy to do.

I would recommend getting a trim tool kit, always handy to have and inexpensive.

Take some blue painters tape, put it down in front of the grill, towards you in the gully made by the grill and dash.

Take the thin trim tool pry bar and insert on passenger side, lift up. Passenger side cause if you have the metal prongs they should be on the drivers.

Get your fingers under the gap created and lift.

If you do have the metal prongs it is going to take some pressure on the drivers side to dislodge.

Remove grill.

I believe it is a 7mm 1/4 socket to remove the screws holding the speaker in.

Remove speaker.

Unplug harness.

I would suggest black zip tying the harness to the left over speaker mounting holes so that it does not fall into dash.

Reinsert grill, starting with the part toward the windshield first as it has a little lip on it.

If you do happen to jack the grill up, I did, its about $100 bucks but can be gotten cheaper for example from GMparthouse.

Hey I got that same set!
My father in law has it too and it worked great for him too, luckily they just opened one up about a year ago down the block from me, you can go nuts in there with all the doo-dads and gadgets

I have a 10w7 and JL Audio 500/1v1 hooked up to a Kenwood DDX814 double din and I did this just a couple minutes ago, just unplugged the center speaker.....and honestly I think it sounded horrible. Still have the stock BA speakers hooked up...has anyone else had this happen?

I read this thread and I decided to try it out. first of all, you don't need any fancy trim removal tools to get the job done. I used a putty knife to GENTLY lift up one corner of the speaker grill just enough to get a screwdriver under the lip. of course I used a towel around the screwdriver. I pulled on all four corners and it came right out. I noticed little to no difference in sound quality.... oh well, it's a harmless mod that took me less than five minutes.

here's what the speaker looks like. it looks like it's a pretty cheezy speaker.



I didn't want to cut any wires so I just took a zip tie and I attached the connector to the speaker. I did this to make sure the connector wouldn't make any rattling noises had I just let it drop in the dash.

I'm a long time lurker, first time posting here. I have to say I tried this today. I could immediately hear the difference! It just sounds so much clearer to me.

you guys would be better off to attenuate instead of delete. The idea of the center is for imaging and to keep the vocal out front on the stage. It's too loud on the camaro, thus sucking in the width. In competition cars, for sq, we don't use a center typically unless the processing calls for it (long explanation). Getting proper path length out of a stereo pair will result in a more pleasant sound typically. There are other ideas for a center though. anyway.
Radio Shack has speaker level volume controls you can wire in.

I just removed mine. I just upened the grill, pulled the speaker out, wrapped the connector with a little bubble wrap and electrical tape to keep it from ratting and put the grill back on. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE. After I installed my metra Kit and JVC Nav I lost a lot of my bass (I think because the onboard "sub" level control from the stock unit is gone) and the mids an highs were brain shattering and shrill at even moderate volume. Pulling the center speaker got rid of A LOT of that shrill sound. the system sound more rounded now, however I am still missing power in my low end.. wish I could fix that without adding a sub.

The stock set up had more than enough low end for music of my taiste.
