I think the only real mistake the General made was to stop production on our beloved F-bodys in the first place.Make the Camaro within a 1,000 dollars of the mustang and you have a winner.Just dont get too greedy with the price tag.I think thats what killed off our favorite car the first time around.

I'd like to know the real reason for killing it the last time. I know sales were down really low, however, it just didn't seem like it got any real development. I mean sure, the LT1s and LS1s were great, but the rest of the car was too similar to the 3rd. Gen. I know there weren't really many carry over parts, but the suspension was pretty similar in the rear, the floor pans were pretty similar, but the car got heavier and just didn't really get refined. I know the body was stiffer than the 3rd. Gen. but there just didn't seem like there was a lot of interest from GM to keep the car alive and thriving.
I thought I remembered reading that GM was deliberately trying to kill the F-body so they could get out of the contract with that particular plant, so they could start over, or something along those lines. I guess if the car was cancelled, the contract would be void, so they just let the car go.

Ok Let me clarify myself again. I like the new camaro that is coming. I just wish the design crew would have put the lower lights in the middle of the lower front valance, and placed the air intakes to the outside. Will I buy one? probably. I also hope the canadians get the quality under control, too many beer breaks by the plant I am guessing. I see alot of people on here drive a Japanese manufactured vehicles and are waiting for the canadian made Camaro to hit the dealers. My friend who works in the plant where they are being made, has told there are some quality things they are getting a handle on, and line speed is slowing ramping up, GM/Canada wants to have a good launch.

GM did a great job with the new Camaro. The Concept is DEAD ON as to what this car has evolved. My feelings about the concept car is that it was as if GM read all our minds as to how the car should look. As far as Powertrain, well there is a desired powertain for every one out there and none are equal to the other. GM has hit a home run with the Concept design. Infact, in the history of concept cars and making sure they stay as true in production has never been more feirce than it has been with this car. I feel the concern should be:
GM Don't screw this one up! "If it aint' Broke, don't Fix it" That describes the Concept car and our fears. Am I right my brothers?

DGthe3, Oshawa is a great facility, don't get me wrong I did some of the tooling for the GMT800 and 900 at the truck plant. My friend was telling of some issues with the C-pillar and water/wind noise, I believe they have this solved. Now we all wait for the slow ramp. I am just relaying what I was told from a trusted friend of over 30 years. Nothing like anticipation, of a new toy to make time drag on

I also think that the 69 looks better, but they cant just copy the old car. They have to try to be original and make a new icon for the camaro name. If they just made it look like the old ones, whats the fun and tradition in that? The first gen camaros were awesome, but they have to move on and make another, original generation of camaros, while only taking hints from the first camaro. If you look past the differences and similarities of the old and new generations, and look at it as a new car, it looks beautiful, capable of being a new icon that is different from its ancestors.
