What land yacht did you have with a 426 Hemi in it? Your V6 sure as hell aint gonna outrun a 70 426 Hemi Cuda or 69 426 Challenger. Both of which post better times than the current 6.1L H.

I just got the CAI for $489 shipped. For that price, it came with the race scoop, and Rotofab W/W relocation bottle, plus a free skip-shift eliminator.

Perhaps I stated the 'underhood wash problem' speaking out from around the backside and below my belt. I have seen pictures I presumed to be of a Vararam, where the filter element "appeared" to be exposed when the hood was up. Was I looking at something else, or was I looking at a Vararam with some kind of cover removed?
I did not mean, at any point, to say that it would be unwise to drive in the rain with a VR, or to go through a car wash. And yes, I know, I'm a V-6'er in a V-8 section, but I have posted in another thread that Mr. Bonanza and myself should at least meet on the 1/4 mile track or at a dyno facility so we can run head to head (1/4) or same machine/same day (dyno) to see who's money was spent more wisely. V6 Vararam is exposed. V8 is not.

My personal feeling is that they are both good, but different intakes. The CAI makes about the most power you can get from a traditional intake. It also has build quality and looks 2nd to none. The Vararam on the other hand is what happens when you throw the book out the window, and design something completely new. Of all the intakes, I do feel on the road, it makes the most power. Our own Camaro, it added two tenths at the track. That being said, the kit is not the prettiest out the box, and the quality has a very homebuilt feel. Some will not find it acceptable. I also think Rotofab belongs in this conversation too...it is customizable, and makes great power!

Very interesting read about the air meter and why some cars are bucking and some are not.

I had a VR in my 2011 and I couldnt tell any difference on the road or at the track. It was OK for what it was but I'm sure I saw no performance gains. That said, for whatever reason I think my 2011 was a factory freak in a bad way. My 2013 feels light years faster. I've had alot of cars and spent alot of time on tracks so I'm no amatuer at this either. I clicked off mid 8s @85mph stone stock as delivered in the 1/8th with my 2013. The best the 2011 ever did was 9.0s @79mph with and without the VR.

Ive hd the CAI for a couple years, and have had absolutely no problems with it. That said, I have no clue what kind of seat of the pants difference it made, because I put longtubes on it at the same time, and got it tuned.
I chose the CAI becaue it is insulated and designed to keep incmoing air cooler. That said, every thread that I have been through, the CAI and Vararam are so close in performance, that I think it just comes down to looks.
