I'm going to say this. Gen 5 Camaro's make lousy drag cars. Way too heavy. Takes too much money to make them even relatively fast.
Gawd, guys are spending big bucks on ZL1's and mods just to break into the 11's. I have a buddy who bought a Vega with a mild flat top 350 in it that runs high 10's. He bought the whole car for $1500 and has run it for 5 years trouble free. Won the track championship in his class. I put a $3800 383 in my Vega and run high nines. Too heavy I say. I'm not even going to take my 45th to the strip. What for?

EXACTLY!!! I leave the track numbers on the Flex for few days... that way everyone asks the wife what the numbers are for.... I think she secretly likes telling them her husband drag races her Flex, so she can see the look of utter disbelief on their faces!! LOL

I've been going regularly to the strip to race against my wife's Mustang. Its hot and we are both new to racing, so the times aren't good yet. Seems like everybody pulls for the Camaro though when we line up.

Quick, PM me and I guide you on the best results for the $$.
Have not gottem where we are w/out a steep learning curve. Here are a few more pics: The early years when the youngest was in high school: starting to pay her way.....she beat multi time world champ Scotty Richardson for this one: at age 15 in first dragster: NMCA/LSX multi time world champ Edgar Perez racing for us: the race rig: IHRA World camp Kenny Underwood (he dropped this car off the back of the open trailer one time.....saw in the motorhome camera going down the interstate just as it happened. Car sllid into the ditch and jumped a drain grate and only bent one of the wheelie bars....he crankcked it back on before the cops arived and made it to the race and still won!: My racing girls (no sons, all the men that race(d) for us were hired guns on the team): the second ever Wally won in a all corvette class: |

Tracy this is awesome to see as this is what alot of us dream of is to experience a side of drag racing like no other. I used to race motorcycles and know that side of professional racing as I did it for years but now I am older I am venturing into cars and everything I do is 110% head first. I would love to sit and talk to you and just listen to some of the stories over the years as Im sure there are many. Keep all of the pics and the info coming as I like seeing it and reading.

Well was at the strip on sunday and ran my best time so far 13.220 and best 60' of 1.991 its hot here as well 95-100 and DA is about 71-7300. Still have fun going out even if its just for a test n tune. Racing picks back up here in sept. with another TnT in aug. Last time I was out did take out a charger with a .5 sec start on me but broke out of my time by .20.

Car is heavy, but I have modest goals, 11.9 stock internals and 10.9 with a blower. Both will happen.

I now know that the 22's I am running are costing me alot of potential. My 60's are crap...With my mods and 20's, I should be in the high twelves. This was my first test and tune in this car. 6 runs. Here are the two best. Couldn't break into the 13's.
