This is why you want an 848.......................this is 13 years old and it's still HOT!!!!!
Of course an 848 will blow this into the weeds and cost 4 grand less in todays dollars than I paid for this in 96.

Here is proof of my sickness, Im not only a forum troll Im a forum owner too
ViragoTech.com ViragoTechForum.com Now most of my life before the Virago was on Kaw 2 strokes. [Mix in some CBs in there and a Suzuki SP360.] My last 2 stroker was a Kaw H2750 9.5 sec 1/4 mile drag bike, only had 20 over jugs, some jets n expansion pipes, 7in slick, plastic bodywork. Used the title from a 500 to run it on the street. Was fun making $10,000 rice rockets feel bad on a $900 bike. Had a set of 80 over jugs but never had the balls. I do not wish to go 9sec with my hair on fire in the open anymore, why I sold it and got into cruizers. Now a 9sec street car, yes plz |

I don't really ride right now (though I do know how to ride) - working on fixing the maxim.
Originally it looked like this (minus the cargo rack - this isn't my picture, just one of the same model/color bike): But its in the process of being torn apart and rebuilt as a bobber/short chop. I might have it done in time for C5fest, but probably not. - X

I got the front end of an 83 MK Maxim on my 82 Virago. Both off shoots of the XS bikes. --------- Love my Yamaha Virago, one of the only real dual purpose bikes. Not gonna break any speed records in stock form , but meet me in the tight twisties and Ill cruise right past ya on your knee dragger. No really. All the mags in the day raved about them and their dual purpose ability. The early 81-83 did have an awful rock grinder starter system [easily fixed, but why so many low miles n cheap] but they still outsold [AMF] HD 3-1 as atleast the Virago started. In Europe they are still used today in road course racing. Though its called a TR1 there. Also the only FFA approved engine. [ "I seen a HD in a ultralite?", they don't even need a pilots license, let alone need FAA approval.] There is a guy who build generators out of them for rural Africa cause they last. The Virago still lives in the Star brands. In the 90s had a 3 year sweep of the AMA prostar "hotrod cruiser" class. Can't member, I think 95-8 [not sure on yr] a stock 1100 Virago took the HD street nationals. The baby 250 n 125 kept the Virago name and still sold today world wide. Also there is a clone out there by Liffian. Sadly they did just retire the big CC Virago power plant only after 29 years of use See I need help Its a sickness.
