Question Has anyone wrapped their intake with a insulation wrap?

I have a K&N CAI (the chrome one), has anyone used some kind of insulation wrap on it?

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!

I used reflectix, an insulated aluminum wrap from Home Depot.
Definitely cooled down the TB & intake a lot. I could tell by touch.
Just takes a while to cut, wrap, & aluminum tape it.

I have. I bought a roll of insulation from pep boys. I used it to insult from the radiator hose heat. I noticed the fans were blowing hit air in that area as well.

I experimented with it on my GTO. Not much added value.

What I do recommend is insulating or moving the Intake Air Temperature sensor. I have a down-and-out style CAI and I had the sensor moved down near the inlet (behind the foglight). It's the IAT sensor that gets heatsoaked and causes pulling to be pulled in later runs at the track.

I have tested this at the track. With the IAT sensor behind the foglight, I saw an average of 90* while idling in the staging lanes. On launch, it quickly moved down to ambient.

The problem is not that the air is not insulated. Once moving, that's no issue. The problem is that the IAT sensor so colse to the motor gets heat-soaked and may pull timing when it doesn't need to.

Padre (Merry Christmas and back to work!)
