Broke my baby’s nose
Thanksgiving was great – right up to the moment I ran over a chunk of truck tire . It took out a piece of the bumper just in front of the right tire. Looks like I’ll need a nose job. Wondering want a replacement is going to cost. Anyone had to go through this? Would prefer not to involve insurance, but if it’s a big dollar number, I’ll have to.
Did I say how much I love this car? Haven’t felt this way about one since my 69 Chevelle 396/375 horse I foolishly let slip away from me. Of course the Camaro is so much more… what a ride! |

Duct tape?
If you replace the whole front, you may want to use the insurance. Depends on your deductable. Oh and: |

I'm not sure if there is a price difference between an SS and a V6 bumper, but I just had to replace mine, $357 for a new one.

I hear it even comes color matched!!!
Seriously...that sux!! My wife parked over a parking stop the other day and when she backed up I thought the whole nose got pulled off from the nose it made. Luckily it was just the rubber piece on the bottom and I got it back on. |

Had that happen to my first Sky, I was driving along on the interstate and the car in the other lane hit a piece of truck tire and it shot straight over in front of me, no time to dodge it... it took out one of my fog lights but didn't hurt the bumper.. One fog light Was 280 bucks to replace.. I just took it out and used JB weld on it and it worked fine. had to replace the bulb though, it was 7 dollars.... but that isn't the same as a bumper..

Buying new and having it painted will prob. run around $1000, so you decide.
I've had mine repaired for about the same cost, but we decided that was the best way to go, the bumper cover is very weak. #1 they just spotted in the paint and recleared the whole panel, so no paint matching issues from panel to panel. #2 With the new clear I won't get rock chips as easy as the fragile factory paint. #3 Where is was repaired it is now stronger than stock was, so maybe next time I hit a trash can it won't break. |

here's a PIC
This is the worst area -- one with the missing piece . More surface damage on the other side.

I hit a dog and had to have the front replaced, painted and a new lower grill. I also had to have the clear bra replaced. Without the clear bra and lower grill it would have been about $1000. As it was, the cost was about $1500. I had a $200 deductible.

Gawd, man! You freaked me out with the thread title! After thinking "oh no, the poor guy's infant (human infant) got hurt in an accident in his Camaro!," then to find out it was ONLY your car! Whew!
I know it's no fun to have your car damaged, but think of it this way, anything can be fixed on a car and it suffers no pain. I do feel for your pain though. Glad no one got hurt (other than emotionally). |
