RX catch can ?

I have a rx catch can on my 2010 camaro. This may sound like a stupid but I don't think I've been closing the valve the right way.I've been turning the screwing the valve to the left which shows no threads, hope this makes sense. Everytime I check it I see more oil in the tube. Now I turned it to the right which shows threads( I thought this was opening) . Can anyone with a rx catch can tell me if I'm closing this right and whether I can mess up my engine by running it open. Thanks in advance.

are you talkin about the drain valve on the bottom?
is the clear line attached to the valve at the bottom?

if the above is true, looking down at the catchcan turning the valve clockwise closes the drain.

Righty tighty, lefty loosy. Imagine turning the can upside down so you are looking down at the bottom of the can, with the valve now on top. Clockwise tightens/closes it, counter clockwise opens it.

Won't hut anything that it was open for a bit. Al Gore would not be pleased though.

You don't have to have the clear line installed, you can run with that off... I found it easier to check when closed or open with the line off. Also, (I have not tested this) but I was instructed if your vehicle is ON and you place your finger underneath the drain valve you should feel some air pressure... closed you will not.

Yes I'm talking about the drain valve at the bottom.

So, with the can installed ,standing over the engine I should reach under and turn clockwise which would be counterclockwise if I were looking at the valve, right?

Your running it backwards with it open!!!! The threads should show all the way out. You probably have a bad vacuum leak also running it with it open. The cans ship with it closed. If there is any doubt with it idling place your finger over the drain tube. You should feel NO suction.

No. You would have thrown a check engine lean code but after you close the valve your fine.
