I'm assuming your using this for a supercharger install. If you have pneumatic tools and a good impact wrench you don't need this.

According to gmspecialservicetools.spx.com,
J-42386-A is $89.02 and J-42386 is $35.80. The service manual says that J-42386-A is required. I'm confused.

It basically replaces the starter. Not sure how the other one would work so don't know.
