2012 SS LS3 vs 2008 Porsche Carrera S
My bother in law will be joining me on a road course, both of us first timers. His Porsche is all stock as far as I know. My LS3 has Solo High Flow Cats, Vararam Power Wedge, Pedders Street 1 bushing kit, racing brake pads, dot 4 fluid, stainless brake lines, upgraded trailing arms, 1LE Front sway bar, Zl1 rear bar and agressive street alignment on stock wheels and tires. I think it will be a close drivers race on the road course but he will walk away drag racing from a dead stop. What do you think?

I think you have it backwards...the road course is is stronger area. Then again I have zero experience with the Porsche

I was thinking the rear engine would give him a huge advantage off the line in a drag race. But at 3135 pounds he will definitely get around corner with less effort.

He will probably beat you in both areas.

Alright, I am going to step up and get a cold air intake and put some Torco in it for the track. If I can just hang close to him on the road course and then runs 12's at the drag strip later this fall, I will consider that a major success.

Oh my yes, because torco will make you so much faster. Heres a thought: invest in some nitrous.

I have not used Torco yet, but I have personal experience with designer fuels and additives that have picked my car up 2 tenths on the 1/4 mile over other well known racing fuels in 10-11:1 compression ratio engines. Nitrous is not for me

Btw, torco isn't gonna really help you much because guess what, your car is probably only tuned to run on 93 octane. If that's the case, running more octane in your fuel isn't gonna help you. Fuel additives don't work. Sorry to tell you the truth. Of course I'm sure all the torco fans will now commence to come out of the woodwork and tell me I'm wrong. |

No doubt a tune would increase the likelyhood fuel additives working. I will test Torco and other products at the track and find out the truth about what works and what doesn't. I don't rely upon internet based product popularity contest for anything other than entertainment.

I think the cars are close enough that the better driver will prevail on the road course. The average joe, even the more experienced Joe, has no idea how to get their car around a track anywhere near its top capabilities.
