No Warranty, will GM Replace my Thermostat?

I think my thermostat may be going bad, what are the chances that GM will replace it? Since my warranty is voided due to mods.
And what sort of proof will they require that it is going bad? I had to pull the battery cable earlier because the car would not read coolant temps, and the AC would not work.

This is the first time I have experienced this, but from what I have found through searching, it is not a uncommon problem.

I'd estimte Zero chance ... Thermostats wear out as do many other parts. If under recall, yes, but doesn't sond like that's the case here..

It depends what your mods are, I mean if you have just an exhaust then you should be fine. They can only deny the warranty claim if your mods caused the thermostat to fail.

I dunno, maybe its just me getting old. ....but am I the only one here that sees this post as odd. One spends all that money on modifying a car to 500+hp, then wants a dealer to warrant a $12 part? I mean no disrespect OP, just kinda tickels my "wtf" nerve.

It was just a simple question, I planned on going to the dealer for a couple other things anyway and just wanted to get a idea if the dealer would think i was crazy for asking. Some of you guys need to relax.

I know its a cheap part, and I know how to change it, in fact I have a buddy that would do it for me, but if I don't have to do it, or have him do it, then why not.
Plus I have a slight lower back injury (nothing real serious) that is keeping me from bending over for the time being, I'm waiting for it to get better. It happened while leg pressing only 800lbs, they say its the easy stuff where you get hurt, which is true cause the 430lb deadlift was no problem.

But anyway, thanks for all the help.

mst504,

Sorry to hear of the thermostat. I know that must pretty displeasing for you. I read your posts about whether you might have the dealer service it or not. Let me know if there are any concerns that you're taking your vehicle in to have serviced. I'd appreciate being able to monitor that for you!

Regards,

If your car is an HPE Supercharged Camaro, I would think it's already been changed.

ehhhh those mods affect colant heat loads and thus coolant flows\temp fluctuations..... thus changing operating performance of thermostat.

if anything you could give them part, mabey root cause of failure is unrelated, id say test the thermostat and wires coming from computer, and not waste gas and time going to dealer
