window indexing issue

i'm not sure if this is the right forum for this or not, i thought maybe the mechanical section, but that seems to be more for oil changes and such.

i think i have an issue with my window indexing and wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue or how i could go about fixing it or correcting it.

my driver side window indexing only goes down like half an inch or so. my passenger side used to be the same. now the passenger side seems to go down like an inch and a half or maybe more. i checked with my buddy and his camaro and also on my dad's camaro and they don't have this issue. on both of their cars, both windows only go down about half an inch. i tried to roll down the window all the way and then back up to have it "relearn" where the open/close points are (had to do this when i got the car and i would get the "roll window down/up" message on the DIC).

anyone else have this issue?

i tried to get video of each window but it was kind of hard with my phone. i think you can still see what's going on in them though. if they don't work just yet, give youtube some time, i just uploaded them like 10 min ago.

no, it's not informing me to do that. it did the during the first day i had the car a few times. ever since then, it hasn't said to raise/lower it. i just thought that might help it so it would know what closed was and not index so much when opening the door.

What does it matter how much it opens as long as it closes all the way? My passenger window indexes about twice as far as the driver window. It closes all the way when closed so no problem.

Forgot to mention before that I was worried it could be indicating an issue with the window regulator. Those are expensive to fix, should still be under warranty, but you never know when it's gonna go out.

And it looks like it is an issue, TSB link:

i would take it to your dealer.they probably won't do anything about it,but it will at least get the issue on record that there is a problem.

In the manual it tells you how to reprogram this. I had to do it and now it's fine.
