SGOS's - L99 A6 Dyno results (after dyno tune)

Just got back from getting my car dyno tuned. I've been trying to upload the dyno sheet, but its just not compatable with my computer programs on my laptop. So this is the best I can do. I took a pic with my camara (sorry for the poor quality of the pic). The a/f is cut off, but it was unreadable anyways with dyno information printed over it (on the printed sheet). But Jeremy said he left the a/f at 12:1 with the tune. My car was "off the chart" rich in stock form.

By the way my car is 100% bone stock

If you can't read the chart here's the info.

Dyno run 1 - Run conditions: 94.89 degrees, 30.12 in-hg, SEA: 1.01
Dyno run 4 - Run conditons: 99.89 degrees, 30.12 in -hg, SEA: 1.01

Dyno run 1 - Max Power = 319.84 Max Torque = 313.77
Dyno run 4 - Max Power = 330.54 Max Torque = 338.78

It was very hot and humid (note the temp on the dyno runs), but I'm very pleased with the results. The best part is the transmission tune. That along with the extra hp and tq have completely changed the way the car feels.

My car was tuned by Jeremy Formato (fasterproms.net). He's a great guy and extemely knowledgeable.

Cool. How does it drive? Noticeable differance?

Did you do any times testing before?
After?

I am assuming dyno run 1 was before the tune? The one thing everyone agrees on is the factory trans tuning is horrid. Glad to see one of the L99's running good. How many miles are on it?

My car only has 700 miles on it.

Yes, first run was stock (also I drove 120 miles to get to the dyno in 90 degree heat).

Yes, my car feels completely different. It feels much faster and pulls a lot harder from every speed. It even pulls a lot harder from, 1/4, 1/2 throttle, etc. Jeremy estimates it should run a good .4-.5 tenth faster in a 1/4 mile. A lot of that is from the tranny tune and reducing some of the torque managment.

Jeremy said the stock tune was crazy rich ("off his chart"). I believe he left it somewhere near a A/F of 12:1 if I can remember correctly.
He said if I had a few mods (intake, exhaust) he could lean it out more, but he wanted to leave it with a conservative tune because its still stock and has low miles.

So you're not concerned about warranty issues?

Truth is, and I told Scott this, I'll probably get mine tuned and say to hell with the warranty. If I have problems down the road then it'll just be time for some serious mods.

So as Spike said, GM wants these to run super rich.

Guess my dyno was acurate. That's like the third or fourth tuner to say this.

He dynoed another L99 a couple days ago, and I believe it made 316 rwhp. He said it dynoed pretty similar to mine.

Super rich is an understatement. He literally said my car was so rich it was off his a/f chart (couldn't read it).

No, not too concerned with my warranty. I'm also planning on getting long tube headers and high flow cats sometime in the near future. I'll need to go back and get my car re-tuned for that.

I'm telling you if you felt the difference in performance with the increased torque and reduction in torque management you'd be sold on getting your car tuned.

I may allready be sold. My mixture also dropped of the chart once.

Good deal!!!! Glad to hear it worked out well.... Did Jeremy say anything about AFM... did he reduce or get rid of that altogether?

No, as far as I know he didn't mess with the AFM.

Is there a reason these cars run so rich? What is the benefit? I know GM Engineers probably have their reasoning...but 70 HP lower than at the fly wheel because of such a rich A/F ratio bothers me.

yeah, its because they ****ed up on the tuning somewhere. Mine is pig rich as well. Im getting it tuned when I get a CAI. If something breaks, Ill fork for a spare cpu with a stock tune.

its safer to run a car too rich than to run it too lean. id like to see a stock L99 with a CAI's dyno sheet... just to check some things.
