Brakes would make sense. I don't think it would be engines because LS3 and L99 are different, trans are different too. Anything else exclusive to the SS's?

What happened to the first-in-first-out we kept hearing about for the Camaro? This allocation business is beyond frustrating. I thought it was going to be put on hold in order to get those with long-order times (which now includes myself) to be pushed through the pipe. I'm 1100 status for over 3 months now =/

There was never a FIFO plan.

Put simply: Logistics for one, profit for two. GM is in business to make money. They want to sell cars in the most convenient way possible in order make the most money. If your first 10 orders are to Houston, TX, Glen Mills, PA, Juno, AK, Calgary, AB, St. John's, NL, Benicia, CA, Silver Bow, MT, Montreal, QC, Drew, FL and Saginaw, MI then you need to hire 10 different railcars and trucks to bring these vehicles from the plant in Oshawa, ON to the dealers, scattered all over North America. It just makes no sense. Sure its fair to customers, but its not smart business.

I'm sure GM would be all over "first come, first served" if we all went to the plant ourselves and picked the cars up

In addition, Allocation was something that was designed by GM in conjunction with federal regulators (years ago) as a means to fairly treat dealers.

For instance, a dealer may be able to order 2 Camaro's in a week, but they need to have the SS constraint to place an SS order. Now that GM has cut back SS production, the 1100 hold times may increase for alot of those waiting. The production time will still be approx 6 weeks once the order is placed, it's getting it placed. Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.

We all just need to be patient! My girlfriend bought a new Mazda 3 GT a few years ago and we had to wait longer because the ship that brought them over seas capcized and wrecked all the cars! It was only about 6 weeks. I know its not the same, but I think when companies are on a hot product they will try their best to get it out!

Capsized ship, sure... but that's not the situation with the Camaro. Allocation is a terrible process for any pre-sold order. There's literally no sales pitch or a dealership trying to move merchandise off their lot... nada. Two companies I know off the top of my head that I can order directly with are KIA and Scion - they'll drop ship them to a dealership of your choosing.

I'd be less against allocation system if there weren't still people (myself included, of course that ordered in June and haven't had their orders move at all. I'm half inclined to simply cancel my order just so I don't have to think about it anymore and just go buy some random car off the lot.

The whole ordeal is leaving a really terrible taste in my mouth.

The initial push is over with - it's just people having to arbitrarily wait due to the allocation system. If orders didn't count against a dealership's allocation; how is it then unfair to dealerships? At that point, I'm ordering with a dealership because I choose to do business with them. If that were the case, then the playing field is even.

This summer season is pretty much over with anyway. I am just going to be patient. I am going to order in January, hopefully orders are low and maybe some kind of incentive. Whatever the case, I think it will be a lot easier to order and get the car then. I am with you, I think right now would be very frustrating to try and get/order this car.
