Need Help! Developing Bumblebee stripes - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I am working with a company to develop a set of vinyl "Bumblebee" Stripes for my car. If we're successful, they will market and sell the stripe package to anyone and everyone.

This will be similar to the stripe packages being offered by Vinyl Graphics and Rider Graphics except that I've noticed that the stripes offered on those packages are not accurate to the stripes on the original prototype bumblebee used in the moive and that was at the SEMA show a few years ago. I am trying to do better.

I am working with these guys to try and develop a stripe package that is as close to EXACTLY like the original Bumblebee stripes as possible.

Here's where I need your help. I have several pictures of the prototype car but I don't have one from overhead, looking down on the hood and hood stripes from a high, overhead angle. If anyone has such a photo, can you please post it here for me.

ALso, if anyone has any information on stripe dimensions for the orignal Bumblebee stripes, Such as width at the windshield, width of the space between the stripes, width at the ends on the front clip, etc. That information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the pics Camaro Lives On. What I am looking for is a high overhead shot looking down on the car and/or some dimensions.

BTW, is anyone else interested in purchasing a stipe packaege from these guys assuming we can get the stripes done right?

you haven't mentioned material or prices yet. Hard to say. Here is the best I can do.

I don't know price or materials yet. Just starting working with the guy and still working on developing the design. The overhead pic is great. I'm sending it to the guy now.

Does anyone know what type of vinyl is best?? I'll want to make sure he's using good quality stuff.

Go to Walmart or Toys R us and Buy the large Bumble transformer.
They go for between $80-$100 scale it and get your #'s.

When I take mine to the paint shop the Bumble bee Transformers will go with it.

Ghost rider buddy ole pal, I'm in if they are done right and/or better. I haven't decided on vinlygraphics or rider and if these are more correct I'm in.

Accurate as compared to what?

I am taking them a scale version of the car it is big like 16" long.
Also I am counting on the talent of the Painter & masker at the shop to have it look good. Remember the actual Bumble Bee dose not match our cars!

Also will be in Ghost colors to my Yellow car.

JP - I'll let you know as soon as I have a working design. I'm determined to have a set of stripes to match to prototype. And ,yes, I know the production car is not identical to the prototype, but it's damn close so this should be doable.

Somebody on this forum painted BB stripes. Actually I think a bunch did. Try searching "bumblebee stripes".

I tried to copy the BB Stripes on my car. I think I got pretty close. I will post pictures later.

He knows that but he wants the dimensions as exact as possible, we call all longer stripes bb stripes but that doesn't mean there 100% authentic, that's what ghost is trying to figure out. He would like specifications as close as possible to the first movies car.
