Supercharger rattle issue and a dealer said its not loud enough to fix
My 13 ZL1 has developed a rattle that I hear from inside the cabin. I took it to the local felix Chevrolet dealership and the tech said there is a noise, and that they compared it to another Z they had in and that one doesn't make the noise like mine does. But they won't change it out because they can't hear the noise above 1200 rpms. That makes no sense to me. If it's making a louder noise then another Z and if its under warranty then change it out.

Rattle from the top of the engine/blower? That's the isolator. If the dealer won't touch it, the performance shop you're taking the car to for mods can replace it with a stronger aftermarket solid isolator.

I would say: go to an other dealership and let do it for you. You have the warranty for your car.

I purchased a LPE isolator a few weeks ago when I first heard the rattle but I read the shaft can be damaged from the faulty isolator, that's why I wanted GM to just change out the supercharger completely.

I would go to another dealer as well. I would first videotape the sound and the refusal to replace from dealership #1. Tell dealership #1 you're going directly to GM with the complaint...and let them sweat.

Something about heard within the cabin with hood doors closed etc I think it says. And rpms as mentioned. It wouldn't hurt to review that info to know and show them why it fails. Also if there are mods you can be put on the permanent no-more-warranty computer list. If you present your car to them with mods know what your doing and the consequences. |

The old TSB is out of date. The info they are going by is wrong. They need to read the newer TSB. If it rattles, replace it. Doesn't matter what RPM. I'm sure someone here can come up with the current TSB. It's warranted 10 yrs or 120,000 miles
