The Flying Gun is just badazz. One of my favorite demos to watch due to it's low altitude/speed maneuverability.

Years ago when I lived in Knoxville TN, there were two nice F8 Bearcats...what a sight to behold. One later crashed. The other was maroon/Burgandy

I don't know if this should go into a different thread, but I know we have a lot of pilots and airplane lovers on here. So...here's two additional questions...

1) What is your favorite Post WW2 fighter jet.
2) What is your favorite airplane of all time.

I think the F-14 Tomcat is my favoite modern day fighter. Sexy lines.

As far as my favororite? SR-71 Blackbird, of course.

Guns were always added as an afterthought.... A10... the plane built around a gun
GTAHVIT has a cool story about a A10 run, maybe he'll be around to share

A-10 is the ugliest aweseomest airplane around! A freaking flying tank.

I've been playing this simulator recently, and though my joystick is ok...I really would love to get the A-10 controls for this simulation. They cost $500 though.

Apparently I'm not in the minority on the post WW2 fighter jet: F22 Raptor (that thing is amazing) though I almost picked the Harrier just for coolness factor.

Favorite plane of all time? Tough one... I'd say the SR-71 I don't think a sexier plane has ever been made.

But that ugly little A10 comes in a CLOSE second. BRRRRRRRRRRAP!

Post WWII jet would have to be the F-105 Thunderchief. Thers just something about the look of the THUD that screams speed...

Favorite of all time?.... P-38 Lightning maybe or P-51 Mustang. That's a really hard choice.

Another favorite is the Grumman Goose. I think those are the most useful aircraft ever built. They can go anywhere.

I was thinking about that plane last night. I grew up watching those take off constantly from Catalina Harbor on Catalina Island near L.A.

Niiice. I used to have Flight Sim 2004, Flight Sim X, IL-2 Sturmovik, and Lock-On....but then I got a Macbook :( That DCS: A-10-C sim looks sweet!

Post-WWII I really like the F-4 Phantom
All time is tough...either Tomcat, Warthog, or Globemaster.

Here's a question for the air show nuts out there. Actually, more specifically, the air show nuts who've attended Oshkosh in the recent past. We plan on attending AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI this summer before we head down to Indy for C5FIII. I've never been to Oshkosh and looking at the website it is a week long show. We were planning on going for Fri., Sat. and Sun (the last three days). Will I miss much? They say they have an afternoon flying display every afternoon but we can only make the weekend. My thoughts were that the majority of the "highlight" flying displays would be on the weekend. Am I wrong?

And just to keep the pics on the thread going here are a few more.

ripcard great photos once again. Sorry can't help you here. It's been years since Oshkosh.(early 90's) It was big then and so huge now. Used to be an Airshow Nut and even been part of the act a few times with Demos and still here to talk about it The only shows have seen outside of FL in the last 10yrs+ have been the RedBullAirRaces and the Nellis AirShow in Vegas. Hopefully someone here can give you the scoop. The website is pretty good. Did you see the first timer's section? Sounds like a great week in store for you all. Have fun!
