Gotcha now. Good luck with the system.

If you get a water softener, all you have you buy is salt to regenerate the softener.

Note that just softening the water is not enough as soft water can contain minerals that spot. You need deionized water for spot free drying.

windows101.com has resin that is cheaper than found on the CR Spotless site (if you want to buy by the cu ft). $115 on windows101 vs 215 on crspotless.

I have some on the way and have not tried it yet but I have heard good things. My water is pretty bad and I go through resin pretty quick. Hopefully the Thermax holds up at least as well as the stuff that came with the unit.

Here is the link to the Thermax DI: http://www.windows101.com/shop/produ...oducts_id=1465

I already have a water softener. If I run the deionizer off of the soft water will the resins last longer?

Depends if you have more total disolved solids (TDS) before or after the softener. In my case, believe it or not, my TDS is higher after the softener so they recommend I run the CR off the water straight from the well.

You can get a digital TDS meter pretty cheap to test your water.

Is that when you use it for the entire wash process or just for rinsing? I get about 8 to 10 rinses out of the griot's system. So say 10 for 110 dollars is 11 bucks per rinse while 20 rinses for 150 bucks using the costco unit is 7.50 per rinse. Unless of course your numbers are based on full wash, then we are getting closer to the cost of self serve wash bays.

Add the elimination of seeing water spots every time I get in the darn car, quickly becoming easier to justify!

I am seriously thinking about getting the Costco unit! I live in Vegas and the sun dries the car before I can get the whole car rinsed.

I'm also looking at the Adams junkman detailing kit. That around 900 bucks worth of stuff! Am I crazy????

That is just with the rinse cycle and with the supplied hose nozzle on "flat" as recommended. I called the maker and was told with the extremely hard water in Phoenix, my system will max out quicker than other places with "not so hard" water. I guess it all depends on location, location. Have not seen ONE water spot yet.

I would definitely recommend it if you're living in Vegas. As it is, I get up at 5:00 am during the summer just to wash it before the sun comes up
No, you're not crazy. Just a lot like the rest of us

Yes, I just sweep the car with the Costco unit at the very end. Have washed the car at least a dozen times so far and the meter is still reading 0 TDS. Use it sparingly and the resin should last for a good while. Now that it's winter I dried the resin out and will reuse it next spring. I'm not sure what the TDS of my tap water is here compared to elsewhere in the country...so longevity of the resin will vary.

Also used the unit when I flushed my coolant system on my truck...worked great and will prevent all the calcium from scaling the radiator.

Waiting for these products is going to drive me crazy! I'm also looking for a good foam gun! I cannot believe how much this detailing stuff costs! But I do enjoy detailing the car! I need to buy a new house with a bigger garage for all the products.

When I called the company it was to inquire as to why my TDS meter was still reading "0". I was told that the meter will read zero until the resin begins to get saturated and that the reading will climb from zero very rapidly (especially in Phoenix). I didn't think my meter was working, but apparently it is normal for the first few uses. Just FYI when the meter starts to climb, keep a close eye on it.
