Stabilitrack and rev delay
Hello, I have a 2SS automatic, and I was wondering: what exactly is the difference in the stabilitrack options? ( regular, traction controll off, and "stabilitrack competition mode")
What conditions / styles of driving are best for the different options? Also, I noticed in the owners manuel there's something about a rev delay. (It's the car's ability to let the odometer hover at 4000rpm until the driver shifts to first gear.) Does anyone know how to opperate it, and will it work with my automatic? One final question: what is the safest way to do a burnout to warm up the tires before a 1/4 mile drag? (In other words: how do u do it?) Obviously I'm a total noob, so try not to laugh too hard at my total lack of knowledge. Thx 4 the help. |

Not sure what you mean by Rev delay but I think you mean Launch Control based on how you describe it. That is available only on the Manual Transmission car.
Stabilitrack (traction control) modulates the engine rpms and individual brakes to monitor wheel sleep and keep you on the road. Holding the button down 5 sec shuts everything off off completely. Otherwise Trac Off disables the throttle modulation, allowing you to get some wheelspin to get moving like in the snow, it keeps the brake modulation though. Competition mode is similar except it keeps the throttle modulation and braking and "tunes" it to allow you a little more leeway if you were driving in an autocross for example, or track day, where the traction control would definitely jump in on you.

Cool thanks, so for a 1/4 mile drag race, the "everything off" option would b best, or competition mode?

What about at the track? I'll be going to Willow Springs Raceway on 12/19 and would like to know what the best settings are for track use?
Thanks! Michael J.

No, my first time on a track with a car - many times with my motorcycle. Ok, Competition mode is everything off, right?
I will actually be taking a performance driving class that day! My first of many track days to come Thanks!

uhhhhh, sorely recommend against turning everything off right away...
drive in regular till you find out how heavy your foot is, cause in the end the traction controll will keep the 400lbs of tq from putting you and your car in the wall. then when your comfortable with it, turn to comp mode... and then finally turning everything off. remember, 400lbs of tq is a dangerous thing and must be respected. |

I think comp mode happens when you quickly press the button 2x. And "everything off" happens when you press and hold the button down for 7+ seconds. |

While I agree on one step at a time, I have raced a lot of cars for many years and the factory system is WAYY too intrusive for you to learn anything. Competition mode is the best combo of save your ass but leave enough that you can learn something. two quick presses is all you need.
