Cadillac ATS need advice.
I'm looking at possibly buying a used '14-'15 Cadillac ATS for my wife. I don't want the 4 cyl nor do we want a V. What is recommended in a v6? I know there's a performance model and a luxury model with the v6. I'm looking for something with good performance without the price tag of a V and still be comfy for my wife. Is one engine choice better than the other?

Performance and Luxury were just the trim levels, much like LS/LT/Premier for Chevrolet. I don't recall them actually having any bearing on performance or luxury really.

You want the 2.0 turbo 4. It has more torque than the 3.6 and will put you in your seat. The AWD model launches pretty well too. As for the trim package, luxury gets you wood and chrome finishes vs performance gets you carbon fiber accents and different wheels.

the turbo 4 is surprising, controllable, intuitive to drive, has nice toys to play with and looks good. |

I would do the 3.6. My dad has a 2014 ATS with the 3.6 and it is a blast to drive( or was before getting my Camaro SS now which I am spoiled by that V8). The 2.0T in the ATS loses its punch above 5000 RPM and sounds like crap IMHO once pushed above 3000-4000 RPM. The 3.6 takes regular gas if that matters and will have less things to go wrong since it is naturally aspirated.

Good info from you all! Thanks! I've always been an n/a guy so probably the v6! I did a little research and like the performance trim but it is unclear if a sunroof is available in that trim. I definitely want paddle shifters too!

Something else to consider, the 2.0 gets dual exhaust, the 3.6 only gets single exhaust.

2.0 is the way to go on this car. You get a great balance of performance and mpg

Mike....the 3.6 is quite peppy....obviously its basically the same motor as the v6 in the Camaro. My Camaro was a V6....and have had 3 Caddy's with the 3.6. you won't be disappointed.

2.0t all the way. Best bang for the buck! You can't mod the V6 at all. There are tons of mods for the 4cyl. ZZP just came out with their new ZFR turbo that can support over 500hp! You'll kick yourself if you go with a 3.6. Hell, just a tune and downpipe on a 2.0t will make more power than a 3.6 will ever make.

I would do the 2.0T also, but you can't go wrong with the 3.6 either.
Price them out, and drive them both. You might be able to get more features for less money with the turbo, and give it a drive, it really is a nice engine. I'm going to be checking out the new Buick TourX later this year, AWD Wagon with that same 2.0T
