Camaro Nascar Question

Will Chevy ever replace the Impala SS with the Camaro SS. I have heared rumblings but never heard anything more either way? Would be kind of neat to see Camaro vs Mustang vs Challenger dont you think?

As of right now no,for 2013 when they go to the next generation cars, the Chevy version will simply be called the "SS".
GM has said that in order to meet NASCAR's templates they would have to alter the Camaro's body so much that it wouldn't look much like a Camaro when they got done!

Seems like a lame excuse seeing as the Challenger and Mustang are already being run in the Nationwide series. I could see that case for the Cup side, but not the Nationwide.

Angry Rant

My opinion of how NASCAR should do it now? The rule book is thicker than the Bible. They should build hundreds of cars (remember the IROC SERIES) and just have the teams pull a pill then put their # on their draw. They have taken so much of the actual brand/competitive brand specific differences out of the sport it's just TOO generic IMO. Victim of technology I guess. All I know is it's just no fun to attend/watch anymore for me. I do still watch some of the races,it's amazing how realistic those wraps/decals make the cars actually look different. Do they make V8 Camry's? Fill's in for football I guess.

Thats how the question first came up,was when the Challenger and Mustang started running the Nationwide Series, thats when GM said the Camaro's body would have to be altered too much.
I'm looking forward to seeing the new car for next year,I'm just wondering what platform the street car is going to be.

The reason they dont run the camaro is because they sell great on there on,the impals needs all the help it can get.

With Penske going to Ford 2013 I believe Robby Gordon will be the only Mopar left? If Dodge doesn't entice a top tier team on board it's the beginning of the end for them as far as Nascar goes IMO. That sucks, the days of what wins on Sunday sells on Monday is already questionable. Progress I guess. I ADMIRE ALL Detroit muscle but it seems like most everything-times are a changin' and I'm outdated:( Sorry, but to get back on topic I do not see the 5TH Gen ever being Nascar approved-as stated before-it isn't close to fitting their templates. THANK GOD! That's why I bought the best looking 'domestic muscle car'

When was the last time you saw a FWD V8 Fusion, Camry, or Impala ??? Based on a set of head light logos

Please leave the Camaro alone in GrandAM or the Conti Tire Challenge or FIA 3 or 4... at least its really related to the real car.
