Casper, your comparison is very impressive. So your average shown is over the life time of the car, correct? Seeing as the car is rated at 16city/25hwy (a6 car), a true 50/50 city/hwy driving scenario would yield an 20.5mpg avg in a perfect world, so you're right there with... Average.

Unfortunately I will never be able to do a comparison such as yours. I reset my trip meters, and fuel avg. each time I get gas.

I regularly see 18-19mpg (19.1 being my highest) purely driving in my general travel area, speed limits in my general travel area range from 25 to 45. I consider that pretty good for "city" driving for a car rated at 16mpg city.

Also keep in mind that when I see these numbers, I am purely driving for gas mileage, and practically ZERO hot rodding. If I start hot rodding it, it quickly falls to 15-16 (or lower depending on which lead shoes I'm wearing). Theoretically if you take my average city mpg, say 18.5, and 24 hwy that's a 21.25mpg average which is very close to yours. But those numbers clearly don't stand up in court, as you've got actual proof

The highway mileage is what disappoints me. For a car rated at 16/24(m6), I can't seem to ever get higher than the mid 24s to low 25s, when I used to get 24-26 in my 04 a4 GTO. (rated 20mpg hwy). I was really hoping I could squeeze 26-27 out of the m6 Camaro.

Not trying to start a debate, this is just my experience. Your numbers are good, very cool comparison.
Cool and additionally, of a more curious note, consider as you've indicated that half my milage is city and the other half at interstate highway speeds, roughly 16K @ at either ends of the two worst extremes conditional use wise........ either red light to red light.......... quick stop and go or 60-80 mph spirited jaunts.

My pic's and your calculations provide objective evidence that a A6 equiped SS Gen5 meets or exceeds its advertised City/Highway fuel use rating averages. The real question is, Do either of the other models with V6's or V8's realistically meet or exceed these advertisements?

The average speed indicated over the life use/the cars actual total milage provided on the DIC also adds creedence that Casper isn't being soft peddled while being driven to achieve these advertised fuel expectations. In fact the higher MPH average proves that the car is being driven as one would expect a muscle car to be driven by an average owner.......lets say in a confident manner. Interesting.........

Just returned from a 500 mile drive, OKC to Albuquerque.

In my A6 with Sport mode on and TC/Stabilitrac off, I got 29 mpg! Weirdly enough, when I used Drive with TC/Stabilitrac on, i got 23.3 though it was probably due to a 50 mile hilly stretch.

My consensus is that I'll always use Sport mode when doing cross country because it seems that holding onto the RPM's prevents the engine from constantly switching gears and using more gas. On a cooler note, I noticed that when truckers see a Camaro, they tend to move out of the way so you can blast past

1LT/RS = between 12.5-13 mpg. This is the result of all city driving + lead foot
