It happened to me.

I was stopped for a car turning left and a 77 year old women comes flying down the road and plowed into me. She just had back surgery 4 weeks ago and who knows if she is even allowed to drive yet or what meds she is on. Luckily a state trooper was sitting right there on the side of the road and saw the whole thing. So far the adjuster says $8200 damage even before even putting it on the lift. You cant even see the exhaust its pushed up under the car. I've attached 2 pictures, back of my car and the front of hers.

Glad you're OK. Hope she's ok, but c'mon that is well past when someone should be driving a vehicle.

I bet you won't feel that way when you are that old. My dad was well into his 80's when he stopped driving, his last accident was in 1970 when he was 50 years old and someone ran a stoplight and hit his car. Everyone is different and i bet some people can drive just as good or better than you even into their 70's.
Then again many in their 20's I can't see how they got their license the way they drive.

Everyone, regardless of age, needs to prove they can drive properly before being allowed to do so IMO. But people that old often have lost the ability to react fast enough, or have the strength necessary to even hit the brake hard enough in an emergency. Again, the need to 'test'. Driving isnt a right after all, we need to stop treating it as such.

As evident from watching young people drive, tests don't mean you know how to handle a car.

I was involved in my first automobile accident when I was only 18 years old. I had my license for only a year. I had a vehicle pull out in front of me while I was going the speed limit (45 mph). The driver was cited for pulling out in front of me. He was 92!!
Anyway, glad everyone was ok.
