Almost got my car stolen!

Okay long story short, this all happened around 3am. I was out, the night was over and was walking to my car. As soon as I unlocked it I automatically knew something was wrong from the car beeping when unlocking. Got in my car and glove box was wide open and when I turned the car on I got a message saying theft attempted. So I don't know if they was trying to steal the car but ran off when the alarm came on or they was just trying to grab whatever they could out of the car. I attached a pic of how they got in I don't know if this happened to anyone before, but it crazy how doing this allows the doors on a 20k car to just open up.

All that was missing from my car was some cologne. maybe they really needed some smell good.

They can't steal it without a tow truck, so my guess would be they were thieves looking for electronics and/or cash.

You can't hot wire cars these days so I doubt they were attempting to steal the actual car. SS's get stolen quite often but usually for the parts and they're typically towed off.

Damn, you're lucky it wasn't worse. After seeing this I'm thinking about parking my car in the yard and not outside the fence, I've got sketchy neighbors Is your insurance going to cover you to get your lock fixed?

Yeah I'm lucky they didn't smash my window, or key it or damage the radio anything it's like they did it for no reason at all. Lol yes keep your car in your sights at all times if you don't have a garage do your best lol.

I'm trying to figure out how much it's going to cost to fix right now. Or if my insurance will take care of it.

I can't imagine fixing the lock will be too expensive, probably less than your insurance deductible.

Same here..I wonder if there's a way to remove or block the key hole on driver door. I don't use it I don't need it.

You could get it filled at a body shop. Wouldn't be hard to do

All you have to do is buy the passenger side handle molding. No hole and color match it .

... of, just tap the face of the lock into place. It will look "normal," and if you don't use the keyhole anyhow, it'll suffice until it is convenient or desirable to delete it or fix it.
