ZL1 and 1LE Very Impressive Results at Car and Driver Annual Lighting Lap #7 @ VIR
Car and Driver's Annual Lightning Lap edition is my favorite read of the year. I don't get the magazine but here were the results: Track: Virginia International Raceway GW - Cop Cars Dodge Charger Pursuit - 3.17.8 Chevy Caprice PPV - 3.23.0 -LL1 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 R - 3.13.9 Subaru BRZ - 3.18.6 Ford Focus St - 3.21.4 Fiat 500 Abarth - 3.27.3 -LL2 Chevy Camaro ZL1 - 2.57.5 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE - 3.01.5 BMW 335i sedan - 3.13.2 -LL3 Merc C63 BlackSeries - 2.58.0 Porsche 911 S - 2.58.9 Ford Shelby GT500 - 3.00.6 Porsche Boxster S - 3.04.2 Audi RS5 - 3.04.3 BMW M6 - 3.04.7 BMW M5 - 3.05.2 Audi S6 - 3.09.8 -LL4 Ferrari 458 - 2.49.9 Jaguar XKR-S - 3.02.1 -LL5 Lexus LFA - 2.55.1 The 1LE was faster than the Boss 302 Laguna Seca and the ZL1 beat the 2013 GT500 along with several very expensive exotics. These cars are incredible performance cars at a great price. Way to go GM! |

The ZL1 didn't beat the GT500.....it ****ing destroyed it. OMG! Over 2.5 seconds! I didn't see the Boss 302 time, but the fact that the 1LE beat the LS version that wears R compound tires is damn impressive.

That's awesome. Great job gm. 1le was only 1.1 sec slower than a car with over 200 more hp. Jeez. I can't wait to get my zl1 style suspension installed.

The 1LE recorded a 3:01.5 (2013) lap around VIR and the 2012 Lightning Lap competition recorded the Boss Laguna Seca edition at 3:02.8 on the same track. A 1.3 second faster lap time is a pretty big margin. |

So did they not test the cars at the same time or are we comparing lap times from different years? Because even with the same cars, those guys' times vary year to year by quite a bit.

Go GM! This should give all the SVTperformance folks something to chat about.
