How long till we see sneak peek at Gen6?
We started seeing and hearing about a return of the Camaro back in '06 when the concept debuted. 3 years later, it hit the streets.
The next generation Camaro is rumored to come out in 2015. With that being about 3 years from now, when can we expect to start seeing "leaked" renderings or sneak photos of the Gen 6 Camaro. Surely GM is already working on design ideas and starting to get their ducks in a row. The internet has already shown the new/smaller Cadillac ATS in camouflage, which will share the platform with the next Camaro.

That car would have to be something REALLY special, to surpass the fame 5th gen has acquired. I just can't see that happen. Look at the 5th gen!!! To make something better in just a few years? 5th gen has a form and look that won a hearts of millions, all over the world - and will be good enough for next decade. There wont be many cars looking better than that.
If next gen goes out soo soon, it will be a mistake. I had a Pontiac GTA Trans Am 89'. After that one, all next generations were simlply UGLY makeups of that car with rounds and curves at all the wrong places, just for a sake of new fashion that appear at that time in car industry all over the world. |

^ I'm going to go with this as well, I dont see GM showing us anything now, do to the fact they may hurt their current sales by showing the future model.

GM was able to hype the 5th gen for 3 years without cannibalizing sales but if they started releasing info about the 6th gen right now it would give potential 5th gen buyers a reason to second guess themselves. I would not expect to hear much until after they are done releasing new versions of the 5th gen (convertible, ZL1, whatever else is in the pipe). After that they will need to maintain excitement about the Camaro brand and 6th gen leaks is how they will do it.

Not for quite a while. The situation with the 5th gen, where the concept was out more than 3 years before the actual car, is very unusual. My guess is the 6th gen will follow the more typical reveal schedule, where the first time you see it is at one of the major auto shows a few short months before it goes on sale.

Well, we all know the Camaro and Mustang have their punching gloves on again. We know the next Mustang will be MY 2015. We know the Gen6 should wait until at least the next year to be in production.
I think it'll play out that once we start seeing leak pictures of the 2015 Mustang, we'll see the resurrection of the Gen5 Z/28 to still a little thunder. This makes me think about the guts GM had in the 60's to come out with a very successful Gen2 when the the Gen1 was still selling strong. Maybe we'll see a replay of that success !!!!!! I think we'll agree the differences in the Gen1 and Gen2 was night and day. Most likely we'll say the same about the Gen5 and Gen6, because the Gen6 will probably be totally different.

$10 says its just going to be a refresh. No sense in only running a new generation for 5 years. The 4th gen lasted for what, 10?, The 3rd 10? Both saw refreshes mid cycle. The current mustang just had its. By the time the new camaro refresh will come out, a whole new mustang should be ready to go. Lets hope the refresh is something more than cosmetic. Say......a 400hp V6 and a 500hp mid level with a 700hp top end model?

They wont put too much more work into the V6, a 300 and change hp v6, is probably a good benchmark to sit at for a good while.
But either way, the reason we saw a concept so early on the 5th gen, is because they tried to release it much earlier than 2010, with the economy, restructuring of GM, and vendors for specific camaro parts (interior parts, etc) falling through left and right, the new camaro was held up for a couple years. I think we will see a concept 1 year before it comes out, not 3. |

GM was wise to give us all the info about the 5th gen way before it was released to hype it up and make hungry Camaro fans want it bad.
Can't do that anymore with the 6th gen now that the 5th gen is still on sale. If they did that, they'd kill off too many potential sales of the current gen. Expect to see leaks and GM info in about the same timeframe as we see them now for other vehicles...6 months to a year before release....(whenever that is)

When they do come with a gen6 I don't think it would be much different then the 5th. Most likely it would be like the little changes like ford did to the mustang since 05. Like the pointed back from example. A full transform like 4th to 5th gen takes some time.
