Dealership V6s question

The v6 that all the dealers get before the actual loyal customers do:

Does GM forbid them from selling it? Is it to be used only for test drives or to gawk at?

I understand if some dealerships wouldn't sell it, but wondering from anyone with some solid info on this knows if a dealer CAN sell it if they want to.

Dealers can sell them if they desire.

Once the car is there, the dealership does whatever they want.

Ah kewl,
My daler told me they do not plan to keep it they will be selling it. So this is good news this means I may get my car in april?
I orderd a v6 and my dealer has told me they do not plan on keeping any for the show room, so they can order the first v6 for me if I understand this correctly.
That would be great news.

This un-allocated car will not be ordered by the dealer. They will receive one of four pattern orders which will be outside of their allocation. It WILL be saleable.

Ok so they will get what ever GM sends them and it will be saleable. So in theory if the dealer wants to sell it I could still take it even though it isn't what I orderd, as long as I want to give up my order and accept whatever they have to offer?

I guess the question for the dealers will be, is it better to have one V6 on the road advertising the Camaro, or to have a car which they've hyped up in the local media, in the showroom for all visiting customers to see.

Yes I agree, I know the dealer I orderd my car from has told me a few occasions they do not plan to keep one for the show room and plan to sell all of them asap.

My guess is that dealers that try and sell this will be trying to charge way over MSRP, just to get some sucker to pay up for the car. It really is of no benifit to sell it at MSRP or lower to someone that is already ordered.
I hope I am wrong, but if I was a dealer, that is what I would do. And if you can't get someone to pay up, use the car to get more orders (i.e. you can have this one now for $3k over MSRP, or order one for MSRP but wait 4 months).

Good point. Makes sense to me.
I don't know what I would do in that senario. Prob. wait depending on how much over it was.

Should we start a poll - they sell, they don't sell? Poll aside, it might at least make for an interesting thread after they arrive - did your dealer sell the V6?

And like you said, mwoodengr, the markup my be significant. That'll make for another interesting thread - how much are they asking over MSRP for the showroom V6?

I going from memory here, which is dangerous.
1LT Victory Red
1LT/RS Black
2LT Yellow
2LT/RS Silver
Assume all are automatic given that the mainstream is shiftless these days No other option content was mentioned, which means nothing. I understand we will have no choice of which pattern.
