So i walk by a '69 corvette stingray every single day.
It has black paint but the back it chipped up. Everything else looks nice and raw. Old, I love it. But I finally went inside the business yesterday and talked to the owner. Asked him if he was willing to sell it. Dude told me he'd part with it for $18,000. I was shocked. It's a nice car but not sure if it THAT nice. Told me he's owned it for 30+yrs. 4-speed manual trans. i forgot what engine he said it had. Wasnt the stock one though.
I know i didnt give that much info but do you think $18k is a fair price? |

Well it could be worth that much, but with no additional info about it, it's hard to judge. Does it run and drive, and if it does, is it currently driven on the road by him?

It all has to d owith its condition, I looked at Classic Auto Trader, they had 3 pages of 69's.....they go from $150,000 down to $7500.

if this helps we recently paid 20,500.00 for a '70 86k, two tops, auto, red on red a few issues but in really decent shape (needs about 700-800 to put it right)

He said it runs well and he drives it everyday. I might go back today and ask him about it in detail and take notes. Would asking for the VIN be to forward of me?

It must be in decent shape, so the price doesn't sound too crazy. What are your plans if you get it? Get all the details, snap some pictures too!

Well usually '69 vette are the ones always sought after if it had the 427.

Trust me I would already have a crap load of pictures if I could take them. My phone or SD card is broken. Won't let me take pictures rightnow. But it would be my DD and a project car. Something to work on while I go through auto school. And thank you Becky! |

Whoa...didn't realize you were on your way to school. Would you get a loan for this purchase? Only asking because I don't know how hard the banks are in CA to deal with, I know some of my local banks turn a deaf ear after a vehicle hits 10 years old.
What kind of auto program are you going into? |

A loan..? Actually an option I haven't even considered. I'll look into that. But I'm going through the Wyotech ASE training program. It's a year long course. After that's done I'm going to take an extra engine modification class that's 6 moths long. I'm really enjoying it so far. In electrical class as we speak.

69 vette. Should be a 350 or 427 car. Did it have a big block hood? Anyway... 18 is what a pretty nice 350 car would go for. However, if it is a 427 car, it could definitely be worth it.

the OP said the owner stated the engine in the car is not the stock engine. That affects the value a great deal.
