double din video nav instead of gauges
I thought I saw a video somewhere of a camaro that had some kind of double din installed where the auxiliary gauges go. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this. So the idea here is: remove the gauges, install a pioneer head unit, but keep the OEM head unit as well. Anyone have any more info? Seems like hope has died for getting video inside the camaro

^ thats the only double din i've seen in a camaro...he made it possible to do that, so somebody would probably have 2 work twice as hard to do what you're talkin' about...he's been workin' on that design since i first started postin' on this site (maybe before that)

I have seen gauges being sold on ebay. And I have been asking the sellers why they are selling them. And they keep saying because they are installing custom video/nav stuff. So that was leading me to believe there is some other method people are doing instead of replacing the oem head unit. I figure that way might be easier because of all the "required" features that the original head unit does. So you just dont really mess with the oem head unit, and install the nav/video head unit where the gauges go.

well i would like to know if your gauges are gone, some navi will tell you speed, but not much else. i will have a double din kit out soon, just keep watching the link a few posts up, thats the full topic for the kit.

What do you mean? I was talking about the 4 pack auxilary gauges. It wouldnt make much of a difference for me because I dont even have them with the 1ss. Im anxiously waiting for your kit. I will certainly buy as soon as it comes out

oo gotcha. i think having them behind the shifter would be hard to use and a major distraction having to look that far down to use something. Ill keep you guys posted.

i have a kit in the works. so does metra. ive seen metras kit and its ugly. mine looks more stock then the metra kit, and both will be available around CES. i will buy a metra one and install it and take pics and post up my version and theirs, and you can choose which one you guys want. no tease intended.
